The next morning I got up and dressed without waking Harry. Felix and Daniel were already awake downstairs in the kitchen, Felix was frying some bacon and eggs. "Morning want some breakfast?" Felix asked cheerfully.
"I'm good thanks, gonna get back to the base" I grabbed a glass then filled it with water.
"Felix do something to go for our Alpha," Daniel told Felix who nodded getting out the tin foil and a baguette.
Sipping the glass of water I didn't protest knowing Daniel was only looking out for me. "Do you mind telling Harry I won't be back tonight? I just really want to crack through and organise my work load."
"Sure, you want a ride?" He already had hold of his keys, how could I refuse? Felix handed me the wrapped up bacon and egg sandwich and a coffee in a take away cup.
"Thank you," Daniel led me out to the car opening the passenger door for me. I hadn't paid much attention to the car last night but realised he'd done a lot of work to it. Daniel had always been into classic cars and had this car longer than I'd known him, a Ford Mustang. When he first got his license he'd be out all the time in it.
"Did you guys talk?" He asked quietly while pulling off onto the main road.
"Not really, I'm still mad at him but he didn't mean it" I explained.
"Yeah," he mumbled back. The rest of the car journey was in silence till we got into the base. "If you need picking up let me know."
"Will do thank you," I didn't know wether I wanted to go back to the pack house tonight but it was nice to have the option. Climbing out of the car I leaned inside to say a short "bye," which Daniel repeated back before I shut the door and he reversed out of the base.
When I spun round I found Alistair stood by the lift, his expression was that of concern. Offering a small smile I met him by the lift as he pressed the button to summon the lift. The familiar ding announcing its arrival then doors sliding open allowed us to embark down.
After a few moments more of silence Alistair said "I'm sorry for how things went yesterday."
"It's fine honestly, you were only looking out for me" I bumped him with my elbow playfully.
"Yeah, well when the first reports came through I just panicked and wanted you here where I knew you'd be safe, not that I don't think Harry can keep you safe" he held up his hands in defence.
"I know," I chuckled. The lift shuddered to a stop and the doors slid open. "I better get through those cases before more appear," I said stepping out of the lift.
"Yep," he stepped out too as his room was only a few doors down from mine. "Fancy lunch together, I'll make that pesto pasta chicken you like?"
"Sounds good, I'll see you later" I smiled before taking off down the corridor.
"Don't work too hard," he called after.
