Passing a couple of meeting rooms as a short cut, I stopped dead in my tracks when I heard voices from one of the open doors. Puck's familiar voice was what stopped me but I'd never heard this anger in him. "Someone here needs to do something before something bad happens," he growled.
"Sir understand we can't act on assumptions made by a drugged up, alcoholic, broken hearted elf" it was director Sampson who replied calmly.
"Ugh, first of all I'm a pixie and second of all I'm not drugged up, never was never will be" that I could confirm. "I care about that kid, she lost everything once before you really want to be responsible for it all over again?" It wasn't really a question. I leaned against the wall outside of the room, now curious as to what would be said to this.
"Again the chances of them making a move like what you keep insisting will happen is low. She worth way more alive. They may hate supernatural beings but they need her, it's why she wasn't killed in the first place." I raised my eyebrows. I heard a huff from Sampson "look I get that you've seen this all before but...."
"But what? The last night this sick group got a chance that little girl died screaming in agony. I watched as she set fire to the entirety of London to destroy that gate. They have no idea what they will actually unleash but I do." I saw his shadow come close to the door then stop. "Don't make it people like my Shakespeare make the ultimate sacrifice to fix your mistakes." He came striding out as I pretended I was just walking past. Chuckling he waved me to follow him, I did just that. Once we were round a corner he asked "how much did you hear kiddo?"
"Enough to know you're afraid something really bad is gonna happen," I answered honestly.
"That's good," he smirked taking another turn so we came out onto the quad. Stopping he leaned on the oak tree that sat in the middle of the quad.
"What happened before or should I ask what were they trying to do before?" I asked.
He looked up passed the branches and leaves "they thought they would unleash a powerful light that would cleanse the entire world of us. What it would have done is unleash a darkness that would enslave us. What happened was..." he stopped his gaze now on me. "Will had a way with words," he spoke almost dreamily.
"Puck are you okay?" I reached out for his arm when he shook his head.
"My Will he found a way to push the magic from the girl into another living being, trapping it. All of it went into him but she had already set herself and half of London on fire." He rubbed his left eye with the back of his hand releasing a chuckle "it slowly killed him. Your pack wasn't targeted randomly, they had found you."
"Wait I don't understand what exactly about me makes me this...."
"You're a key, you have the power of the moon in you. The exact power wolves think originally created werewolves which is more correct than you lot realise." Grabbing my arm he pulled me close so he could whisper "trust me I'm old enough to remember that moment." Letting my arm go he smiled "stay safe little cub," he then walked away back inside leaving me confused and stunned.
