The black clock with silver numbers ticked harshly on the wall in front of me, it was now about half eleven and I'd managed to make a real dent in the case files. I now at least had a system which was working with historic cases with no hope of solving filed in the grey metal filing cabinet and everything else beside my desk. In the end I had been glad of the bacon and egg baguette as I was now already starving. Currently in front of me was a case involving a pack of wolves in Scotland, the entire pack had gone up in flames. It was before the werewolf council was disbanded and alphas began governing themselves together. It was interesting if nothing else about how the old council felt with the investigation.
"Well this is an improvement," Alistair's cheerful voice broke me from my curiosity. He brought in two bowls of pesto chicken pasta, "you hungry?" He asked offering me a bowl. I took it as he produced two forks from his pocket. "How's it going?"
"Alright I guess," I answered before shoving some welcomed pasta and chicken in my mouth. "God I think I love food," I mumbled between bites.
"That's nothing new," he chuckled beginning to eat his own.
"What have you been up to this morning?" I asked wondering if he'd tell me more about yesterday than this morning.
He placed his bowl down and sighed "going through your case file, seeing if I missed anything. I really want to give you some answers," the disappointment with himself was clear.
"It's fine my life is great, why would I need answers about the past?" It wasn't really a question.
"I know," picking the bowl back up we both continued eating. "Anyway how's things with the pack, it was nice of Daniel to bring you back this morning?"
"Good, it was nice to have dinner with them and stuff" I was avoiding telling him Harry and I had argued but he was quick to notice, having raised me he knew me too well sometimes. He raised an eyebrow at me. "What?" I pretended to act all dumb.
"What happened?" He asked just trying to make sure I was okay.
Putting my bowl down on the desk now empty I sighed before explaining, "we just argued."
"And?"
With a huff "and he got all possessive and growled at me so I got Daniel to pick me up from Harry's place." He was still looking at me with that 'tell me more' expression. "We didn't exactly make up, I'm mad at him for not trusting your judgement," I crossed my arms to solidify my point.
"Good, that's my girl standing her ground" he chuckled. "I don't want him thinking he can push you around."
"Seriously he loves me, it was just a slip up" I defended.
"It better be the last time, I won't have anyone growling at you."
We sat chatting for a little while longer before he took the empty bowls away and I got back to work. Tonight I'd stay here I needed space away from Harry, especially when I was sure he was still mad at me.
