After getting some underwear on I pulled on one of Daniel's hoodies and sat snuggled up on the seat in the window. I had a copy of the wizard of oz in my lap but hadn't actually opened it, I was too busy feeling awful for how I'd reacted to Daniel's earlier happiness. Of course I was happy but I couldn't just forget the possible impending doom. Glancing out of the window I noticed the gates were ajar and there wasn't anyone down guarding them.
Thinking it was strange I headed downstairs, assuming they were by the front door. As I reached the bottom though it was obvious no one was there. Sniffing the air I couldn't scent anyone. Frowning I went out to the driveway to find two of the younger wolves laying facedown beside the stone steps. Rushing to their sides I rolled both over checking they were still breathing. I let myself smile a little, both were breathing. It was then I caught the whiff of wolves bane. My eyes found the fowl leaves just a few metres away in the hands of, Alex.
"Don't bother screaming for help," he stepped forward and crouched down.
"What did you do to them?" I asked shakily. Wolves bane could be fatal used in a certain way.
"They? Your mutts will be fine, as much as I have grown to like spilling your kinds blood I'm not in the mood to getting my clothes filthied by it tonight. No I'm here for you." He was grinning when his hand was suddenly on my face cupping my cheek.
I felt the crunch of the dried wolves bane on my bare skin, instantly becoming drowsy. "Y-you ba....." before I was able to get the words out I dropped into the gravelled driveway.
Alex stood over me "it's time you fulfilled your purpose."
