The Globe theatre loomed over the Thames but was dwarfed by the rest of the London skyline. As original as they could make it with the thick thatched roof and deep wooden beams. I'd parked up a few streets away deciding to walk along the river getting some fresh air in the late afternoon. It was close to closing time for the globe with a few tourists lingering taking photos and selfies. This wasn't the first time agents had been sent to deal with a 'disturbance' and it was always this time of year. I was kind of glad to have something simple to do today, better yet it would distract me from my own problems.
Making my way into the pit I stood in the centre of the theatre. I was soon spotted by a member of staff who made her way over to me. "Um we are closing soon can I help?"
Pulling out my ID she nodded going to a door which she cracked open and a more elderly man appeared. The young girl left as he made his way to me, "you came last year too."
"Yes sir," I replied as he handed me the keys.
"I'll assume I can trust you to put these in our locked letter box when you're done?" I nodded and he went back through the door. I heard them both leave so I headed up onto the staging.
Once sure the staff of the theatre were all gone I called out "Puck come out!"
"No need to shout," groaned the pixie that stood on the Juliet balcony. Puck, although thousands of years old looked in his mid twenties. Slight pointed ears were framed by his short spiked reddish hair. Those sad grass green eyes looked out over the stage as though he himself was Juliet. "Can I not mourn him in piece?"
Hopping over the balcony ledge down to me I shook my head at him, "Puck you can't pretend to be a ghost though."
"You sound like your old man," he chuckled. "You used to think it was funny my tricks."
"Yes I did find them funny but this is not healthy, he wouldn't want you to be like this."
"But I miss my Will," he walked to the front of the stage "you get it. It's like being apart from your mate." He sat on the staging's edge and I went to join him.
"I would normally agree but I feel things have changed, but I do know I'm yours and William's case he would be proud that you've kept going without him." I put a hand on his arm.
"I hate how you are making sense," he laughed.
"Come on I'll buy you a drink, god knows I could do with one too." We both climbed to our feet and I for a moment smiled "you know he will always be your Shakespeare."
