Becca helped me redress by back and arms before accompanying me to my room to change into training shorts. I kept my jumper on over the long sleeve training shirt and we made our way to the gym, it was her day to put me through my paces. Glad it was her so I wouldn't have to explain my long sleeved shirt to someone else, we tapped and powdered our hands ready to spare one another. We spared for over an hour before I collapsed on the floor of the ring lying down gasping for breath.
Becca sat on the mat frowning down at me, "is it the...?"
"Yeah, guess they're not fully healed" I took a deep breath closing my eyes. Every inch of my body ached but it was my back close to my spine that was stinging.
"Laying down on the job are we?" Alistair's familiar voice cheerfully called out from the edge of the ring. He ducked under the ropes and joined us, sitting on the other side of me from Becca. "I've got a case for you. It's going to take you to the globe, and by that I mean there's been reports of disturbances after dark in the theatre."
I sat up groaning "so I'm now a ghost hunter?"
"No its most likely some pixie or other creature having fun freaking out the custodial staff. Shouldn't be too much work for you," he patted my shoulder making me bite my tongue holding back wincing. "Good girl, do you want a ride or shall I let you get on with it?"
"I think I'm big enough to get on with this one myself," I forced a smile.
"Brilliant," he clamoured to his feet before adding "don't forget your ID please and only take your stun gun."
"Aw I was gonna take my rocket launcher," I laughed.
Becca joined in adding "oh yeah and some grenades."
Alistair put his hands on his hips and scowled "very funny ladies." Shaking his head with a grin he climbed back out of the ring. Turning back to me he asked in a hushed voice "you okay? You tensed up a bit when I touched your shoulder."
Nodding I answered with a "yeah I'm fine." He nodded back at me before making his way out of the gym.
Becca shook her head frowning "I still think you should tell him, he'd do only what you want. He wouldn't go against any of your wishes."
Bringing my knees to my chest and keeping my gaze down at the floor I said "you know he wouldn't do nothing."
