Alistair hugged me tightly and mumbled in my ear "I'm so sorry." When he pulled back he added "I should have done something earlier."
"Dad I'm fine, the pack has kept me pain free" I glanced over at Daniel who smiled back. Taking my hands in his Alistair frowned at me "seriously I'm fine. I'll get passed this, with all of you."
"Still," he rolled his eyes and smiled "I'm just glad you are safe." Hugging me for the 100th time he stepped back giving me some space.
Bea placed bacon sandwiches on the kitchen island and happily demanded "eat."
"Seriously Bea you've been making food all morning, why don't you eat and sit for a while?" I suggested.
"Is that an order alpha?" She asked with a playful grin.
"Yes as your alpha I order you to relax," I laughed as did Daniel. The pain in my chest was starting to flare up again making me feel increasingly restless. Walking over to the doors that led out to the garden, which now was quiet after the pack members that live elsewhere had left. I had been enjoying the sound of children playing, of people enjoying themselves. Turning back to the kitchen I caught Alistair and Daniel shaking hands and laughing together while Bea kept sliding the plate of sandwiches at them. The good mood was shattered when the distinct sound of a car screeching into the driveway screamed through the house. My entire body tensed up.
A car door slammed shut then "hunny I'm home!" Harry's voice. He strode into the kitchen towards me. Daniel appeared at my side but it was Alistair who stepped between us. "Hey Alistair, how's you man?"
"Don't hey me," I'd only sensed this energy from Alistair once before when I was very small. "You need to leave."
"Leave? Excuse me this is my pack house," he growled straight back.
"Not anymore," Bea butted in.
Harry looked sharply at Bea "cousin you really need to learn to speak only when spoken to." Then looking towards me he growled "she shouldn't be here."
"She is their alpha now and don't you dare talk to my daughter again. She never deserved to be treated like you treated her. You are a scumbag thinking this pack, that anybody would remain loyal to you when you've not earned it. So get out before I either shoot you or arrest you for trespassing." Alistair cocked his pistol.
Harry glared towards me "you sneaky little bitch."
Alistair pressed his pistol into Harry's chest "don't make me shoot you."
Putting his hands in the air Harry growled "fine I'm leaving." Turning round he headed towards the door looking back a final time he warned "you'll regret forcing me out."
