I scrambled over to Alistair pulling his body into my lap. "No no no," I muttered putting a hand over his side where he'd been shot. Daniel was at my side trying to help but I wouldn't let him touch Alistair. "Please don't die," I whimpered. "I need you still. You can't leave me here, please." I couldn't help myself, tears flowed like rapids cascading down my cheeks.
"You haven't needed me for a long time," his voice was raspy.
"I'm sorry for all the times I was naughty and disrespectful and stupid. I'm sorry you didn't have another life away from me, I'm sorry."
"Don't be sorry." His eyes were watering. "I'll tell you something I've never said out loud before." I nodded unable to form words now. "When Becca and I broke up it wasn't because I chose you. Well she dumped me because we found out I couldn't have kids of my own, but without a doubt if she ever made me choose I would always choose you." His body shuddered causing a sharp groan to escape his lips "you will always be my little cub," he passed out but was still breathing however I was now angry at his brother.
"No...." Rage boiled up out of the despair, I cried out in pain and growled at Alex. "You, you foul human." My body started to shake, the wolf inside me was pissed.
"Amy?" Daniel had a tight grip on my arm, my wolf was barely contained within me. Alex dropped the gun and ran out of the gates as the sounds of sirens faded in from a distance.
Around me everything went silent as I went into shock. Daniel was able to peel me away from Alistair as bright blurs surrounded him. I could hear Bea's muffled voice was all could hear till I collapsed into Daniel's body. "It's all my fault," I cried as he led me to his mustang to follow the ambulance.
"He'll be okay and none of this was your fault," Daniel whispered as he helped me into the passenger seat. I watched the ambulance crew move Alistair on a trolley and up into the ambulance.
Daniel got in the car and rolled my window down as Bea came over. "We'll sort everything here, Callum has called the base." To Daniel she added "don't rush back," the window rolled up. Daniel reached over and squeezed my hand before pulling off following the ambulance.
