Once ready I joined the pack down in the kitchen. Everyone was happily chatting and eating the kitchen air was filled with the scent of freshly made pancakes, bacon and I was pretty sure I spotted some muffins too. Bea ushered me over to the kitchen island and handed me a plate piled high with pancakes. "Thank you," I looked around spotting Daniel talking with Callum, Felix's older brother. He moved out along with his mate a few years ago, they already had two little boys. The youngest of which was nuzzled on his shoulder, a little baby girl. "Hey why is everyone here?" I asked Bea.
"Uh well..." suddenly Daniel was by my side giving Bea a look. "What we just gonna not tell her?"
"Daniel why is everyone here?" I asked again.
Instead of answering me Daniel raised his voice "alright everybody, quiet down!" Instantly every person in sight turned to face us. He turned to me, "this morning we called the pack. We've been talking and all of us agree..."
"Quit stalling," Bea groaned.
Daniel shot her a look before going back to me, "we all would like for you to take on the role of alpha." Looking around the room he let everyone murmur agreement. "But only if that's what you want."
"What about Harry?" A stabbing pain shot through my heart speaking his name. He took my hand gently, the pain subsiding.
"We've collectively disowned him," Bea explained "the pack has rejected him. He was never a good alpha but you already have proven yourself."
"Thank you," I looked to everyone "I honestly am flattered but surely you all want someone who...."
Callum stepped forward "I'm sure I speak for every wolf here that you are who we want our children to look up to, to lead. That you are the alpha," the entire room full howled in unison.
Daniel placed a hand on my shoulder "this is only if you want it."
Nodding I let a smile spread on my face, "then I accept the role of alpha." Another longer louder excited howl filled the pack house, even the little ones were howling. I couldn't help but join in as did Daniel who held onto my hand.
Once the howling stopped I attempted to slip out unnoticed however "where are you off to?" Daniel asked.
"Just need a moment," I answered as he stepped towards me. "You know when you kissed me?"
"Yeah," he frowned at me taking my hands in his own.
"No it doesn't matter," I shook my head looking down between us.
"Come on, let's go talk" he gently pulled me up the stairs towards his room.
