"Are you sure about this?" Alistair asked again as Daniel paced back and forth past the study door. "It's just it seems to me and everyone else that Harry really doesn't want to work on the relationship," he placed a hand on my shoulder. "I know you two could have been a brilliant couple but I think it's time to let that go."
"No, I can still fix this. I have to fix this," I slumped into the desk chair emotionally exhausted.
Talking lower Alistair said "no you don't have to fix anything. Come on Cubby don't do this to yourself, I get the wolf bond is supposed to be strong and stuff but the way he's treating you is wrong. You need to be able to see that, and I think you can see that."
For a moment I didn't say a word just stared off into the doorway. I let out a big sigh "I do see it, I just don't want this to be how it all ends. I thought Harry was my friend and maybe I can turn things back to how they were." I was questioning wether I had been ready to be marked, wether I made the right decision.
Tears threatened to make a return as Daniel stood in the doorway. "See she won't listen to reason," Daniel was becoming more frustrated and on edge. I understood he was worried Harry was still going to be mad about him kissing me despite cheating on me so openly. There was no doubt, Daniel only cared wether I was safe.
I shook my head and groaned, standing up again knowing both of them were right but a part of me felt I had to keep trying for Harry. This loyalty to him didn't feel right but at the same time the mere thought of not giving him another chance made the mark on my neck burn.
Daniel could see the physical pain it was causing me as he softened his face. "We aren't going to force you to do anything," he walked out.
Alistair sighed "it's the mark isn't it. I did plenty of research when I adopted you on all of that but you don't deserve the humiliation and whatever else he's done." Walking over to me he held my hands in his "I always wanted you to meet the one and be treated like the queen you are. You will always be my little princess and right now I'm not happy with letting you go." Hugging me tightly I knew Alistair was fighting with his instinct to take me back to base this second, back home.
