Chapter 71

Axel had spent the last hour explaining their research and the events leading up to Shakespeare taking in the young girl's power that ended up killing him. Puck removed himself from the room at the mention of his beloved William. "As a family we did have to go into hiding for the last fifty years," he added.
"So do you think that could work again?" Daniel asked.
"Yes but it has to be a willing soul," Puck stated through gritted teeth. Norah took his hand gently squeezing in a way an old friend would.
"The other risk is that it could instantly kill Amy if the ritual has gone too far," Axel looked at me. "However Norah has found something that may work which has no risks. Now we are aware you have been marked before, we believe Prince Harry was told he had to reject you not just leave you. So the logic of that made us curious."
Norah spoke now "yes," she pulled out a large leather bound book seemingly nowhere. Turning to a page near the back she began to explain what she'd found, "here it says about the 'love of the moon becomes a shield on the darkest night'. As far as I can gather if you were marked there wouldn't be a risk but then I read further." She turned the page "if they try the ritual when you are marked it will kill both you and your mate."
"So in theory marking me makes me useless but if they don't know then I and Daniel die," I stood up abruptly a bit overwhelmed. "I just need some air," excusing myself I headed for the garden. I was out there barely a moment when Norah came out and joined me.
We stood in silence till she commented "you should come stay with us some time, the stars are a beautiful sight." She stepped closer to me "my husband is powerful, he could put protections on your home here. My sons are just as powerful they too could...."
"I don't think it's fair I risk Daniel," I spoke exactly what I was thinking.
"Ah" she smiled taking my hand and guiding me back inside. The men were all debating a little loudly over the options. "Boys may I remind you this lady has a huge weight on her." She looked to Daniel "you young man, talk to her alone." Daniel stood on command and the two of us went back to the garden.
