A couple of days later I received a text from Harry, instructing me that Daniel would pick me up at 3pm. I'd been ignoring his frantic calls but knew I had to go back to the pack house sooner rather than later. Alistair and I had been in meetings with Cameron as he was going to propose a referendum and the mere whisper of it seemed to have triggered more attacks, except these attacks were on individuals. Each attack seemed worse than the last and Cameron had no care over the thought he might have been triggering these horrible vile attacks. It was taking all my strength not to slap him round the face. There was also now whispers round the base that Harry was seeing someone else.
Picking up my satchel stuffed to the brim with paperwork I waited busy scribbling into my pocket notebook, in the base's parking. Daniel was late.
"Still waiting?" Alistair sat beside me on the loading dock as nodded a groan. "You don't have to go," he said.
"I do, even if it's just to distract from the impending doom" I huffed tucking the notepad in my pocket. "Why do people in power not listen when others talk sense?"
"Because they're morons," he chuckled trying to cheer me up. "Don't let this drown you. I know this has been stressful but we will stop them." He gave me a quick side hug as Daniel pulled up and stepped out of his car. Standing to meet him I noticed dark circles under his eyes and bruises up his bare arms, there was also the healing remains of a black eye. "Daniel is everything okay?" I asked.
"Everything is fine," I was not gonna take that answer. Heading to his car he caught my arm as I walked past and whispered "we can talk in the car. We both climbed into his car and he started the engine, driving off. "First of all I don't want to take you to the pack house but I have no choice," he grunted.
"What happened to you?" That was my first concern.
Letting out a sigh he began to explain, "I got between you and Harry who wanted to come and get you but he was in a state and there wasn't any way I was letting him."
"Thank you," I muttered feeling guilty.
"I heard about the attacks, how's that all going?" He said quickly changing the subject.
"Awful. There was something else I wanted to ask," his hands tensed up on the steering wheel.
"If it's what I'm thinking of please don't ask me, I don't want to lie to you and the truth isn't fair on you" he spoke through gritted teeth. I didn't need to ask further to know the rumours were true. "I'm sorry. I told him you want to be the best you can be for him, that all you want is to be loyal to him. I ran my mouth a bit which did earn me the black eye," he pulled the car over in a lay-by. "Amy I wouldn't ever give advice or tell you how to handle your relationship but I'm afraid he's going to hurt you worse than before. I can't loose you," he looked over at me fists clenched and jaw tight.
