The tv was chattering in the corner as I paced back and forth desperate for the results to be over. Daniel was leaning against the doorway when he said "you should sit down."
I gave him a look, rolling my eyes before my focus got pulled back to the tv. The news presenter shuffled his papers before announcing "the UK has voted to leave the European Union." I sank into the couch instantly, this was not what I'd wanted to hear. Now we would loose resources from Europe and protection for those out in mainland Europe.
Daniel turned the tv off and crouched in front of me "what do you need me to do?"
"I...I don't..." I was interrupted by an ear splitting noise.
Both Daniel and I winced looking towards the tv. We saw the news report had been taken over by Alex. "Now I have all the wolves attention," he was grinning smugly. "This is a warning we will show the world how dangerous this world is. We will show the world that you poison our world and should be eliminated. If anyone sees this mutt," my face appeared on the screen beside him "ring this number. Remember these creatures are the enemy," and he was gone.
Daniel pulled out his phone "I'm calling the pack, I need more people here to protect you." I could sense the extreme worry so didn't stop him. I slumped further into the sofa stunned. He wandered out of the living room as I reached for the remote switching the tv off. This was the worst situation we could be in, a public threat was designed to turn the public against us. I grabbed a cushion and held it up to my face screaming into it. All the frustration was pouring out as sound and tears.
Alistair came limping in and sat beside me as I placed the cushion on my lap. I knew before he'd spoken that he'd been watching it upstairs. "He won't be able to convince people to turn on you."
I huffed "that's not really the point and you know it. We're supposed to guard the supernatural and non-supernatural from people like him and from each side. Ordinary humans panic and use anger against things they don't understand." I rubbed my eyes "I think I'm just emotionally broken right now." I could feel Daniel's eyes on the back of my head, I knew he was worried and felt guilty but he had nothing to feel guilty over.
"Then go get some rest, it's not like anybody can do anything right now."
