"So that could mean an attack any day here?" Daniel asked as we stood watching Amy and Beatrice. The two girls were happily chatting in the garden while we stood by the back doors.
My hand brushed my pistol now holstered away under my jacket. "Yes but no one at the organisation is taking it seriously because the info came from Puck. That's not even considering accusing a prince of conspiring with an enemy." Sighing I rubbed my temples "look thank you for taking care of my little girl. When I took her on everyone I worked with thought I did it to forgive myself for ever following my father but actually I knew if I didn't she'd end up alone. Giving her a home was all I ever wanted and now I really see this place as a home for her with you."
Daniel smiled leaning on the doorway, "I always got the feeling you didn't like her here because you were being over protective. I'm very glad you approve of me." He took his wallet out of his pocket and removed a folded photograph handing it to me. "Do you remember when you took this?" The photo showed all of them; Harry, Amy, Beatrice, Eugene, Felix, Callum, Daniel and a few other young kids. It was the first time Amy had stayed at the pack house, they'd had a sleepover.
"Yes, you all were exhausted but it was the first time she'd got to spend quality time with other wolves." I held the photo looking at the biggest, sleepiest smile ever on Amy's sweet face.
"I've carried that around ever since. We are a family here, you, Becca and even Puck included. Anyone who has ever looked out for our alpha is welcome here." I handed the photo back and he replaced it into his wallet adding "I'd like to get a new photo done of us all for her to make the room upstairs hers or to go in the study or even in the living room. Just want to do something nice really," he was blushing as he rubbed the back of his neck and glanced over at Amy.
"I think Puck may have a camera, he went through a phase a couple of years back. I'll ask him and get back to you," holding out my hand he took it and we shook. Letting go I stepped outside "I better get going, take care of her for me."
"Yes sir," he grinned as I nodded and headed towards Amy to say goodbye.
