Chapter 72

Sitting underneath the willow tree Daniel stood in front of me. I'd just told him that I didn't want to risk him in anyway however I could already tell by the look on his face he disagreed with me. "If we made it public they'll think they've lost." He sat down and took my hand "I'm willing to risk everything for you. There's no way I'd let them near you anyway. Are you not ready?"
I squeezed his hand "I do want you to mark me." His eyes widened. "I do, I meant to tell you earlier but I was well" I blushed, "everything has been getting too much and I had this idea in my head I'd give you your gift and...." I let out a long sigh.
"Hey let's forget about any risks marking would have on either of us. Is it what you want? Do you really want to do this with me? Are you happy to let me try marking you? I don't want to frighten you or make you feel uncomfortable." The softness in his eyes was all the comfort I needed.
"Yes to everything, I didn't want to rush but when he came and I....." I shook my head a little "you give me strength. I feel like I know what I'm doing with you."
Leaning over into me he kissed my lips for a brief moment before sitting back up straight. "Let me plan something special, that's all I ask" he whispered in a husky voice.
I let myself fit into his chest "yes of course" I whispered back. He held me against him tightly as though he was afraid if he let go I'd disappear. After a few solitary moments together I heard a groaning Alistair behind us. Standing up I put my hands on my hips and frowned, "you should not be dragging yourself out here."
He huffed dismissively "I'm fine. Are you two okay?"
I rolled my eyes "yes we are fine. Dad seriously you are recovering from being shot," I made my way towards him but Daniel got there first.
"And you are still recovering too," Daniel stated.
"Come on I'm fine," I moaned.
Chuckling "god you two are so alike." This earned him frowns from both Alistair and I. "I'll get him to his room while you say goodbye to your guests."
"Okay I'll meet you upstairs," he pecked my cheek taking Alistair back inside. I then made my way back to the dining room.
As I entered through the doorway Puck greeted me "so decision?"
"Protection spells or whatever you call them would be wonderful. Daniel and I have decided to go through with the marking," I took a deep breath. "Thank you so much for offering your help, hopefully we will get through this and things can get better."
"Yes, that would be lovely" Norah said smiling sweetly. "Then maybe you and Daniel could come stay with us, and finally relax."
I sighed heavily "yes that would be nice."
