Chapter 34

"Wait!" I called after Daniel practically chasing him but stopped in the doorway. He turned back to face me at the bottom of the stairs "Daniel would you please talk to me plainly?"
He walked back up a few steps "I'm saying leave him. He obviously doesn't care about you!"
Putting my hands up I barked back "it's just teething problems going into this huge commitment..."
"No it's not and you know it," he shook his head "come on you know this isn't that. You know this is how he's always going to be. Hurting you, raping you. Come on he's even cheating on you with some other wolf," Daniel stamped up the stairs so he was eye level with me. "Stop letting him do this, leave him. I promise you won't be alone." His hands softly took mine and his expression softened. I hadn't notice till then how comforting his touch and scent was. "You deserve to be happy and safe. Alistair didn't raise you to be submissive to a guy like Harry, you are so much more than what Harry sees. You are strong, intelligent, gorgeous and a brilliant woman who isn't meant to be locked up," he looked around desperately. "I...I...." he pushed up pressing his lips to mine. I closed my eyes melting into him not pushing away, not resisting. Quickly pulling back he muttered "I'm sorry" but he had a smile on his face that told me otherwise.
I placed my hands on his chest as his drifted to my hips. Taking a deep breath I looked into his eyes. "He will never let me leave him, he'll never let go" I felt every inch of me pulling apart, tears stinging the back of my eyes. The pain of being linked with Harry who had not a care in the world for me and then faced with that kiss from Daniel that felt so right. Nothing made sense anymore. "I need to do some work," I mumbled needing desperately to sort through my thoughts and feelings, and to change the subject.
Daniel didn't saying anything he just led me down to the study and retrieved my bag for me. Once he had and I was sat in the chair behind the desk he said "if you need anything I'm just out here." Then he shut the study door behind himself.
I slumped into the chair breathing heavily, my hands shaking a little in my lap. Harry would know what happened, that Daniel had kissed me. Harry felt he could cheat without consequences but that single kiss I feared would come back to haunt both Daniel and I.
