Every inch of me was aching and stinging as I lay upstairs. I remembered it starting then I was sure I blacked out then Daniel's voice. He was angry, shouting my name. I saw the painting on the first landing then blacked out a second time eventually waking up in the bed. As my eyes focused on the room I saw and Eugene run out to the small landing "she's awake!" There was muffled steps as I pulled myself up to a sitting position. My head was thumping and my right leg's muscles were tight, I couldn't move it without pain shooting up it.
Daniel and Bea entered the room along with Felix who kept moving from foot to foot nervously. Walking over to me the look of relief on Daniel's face was unmask-able as he looked me over. "Do you feel any pain?" I nodded knowing it best to be truthful right now. I lifted the sheets to see my leg was covered in hand shaped bruises.
"He's sick, especially wanting her to wear that dress" Bea grumbled motioning to a blood red backless dress. I could see from here the skirt part had a slit where my left leg would be.
"Bea, mind yourself" Felix spoke softly from behind them all.
"Maybe we can try some fake tan, just enough to match your skin tone" Eugene mumbled mainly to herself. I guessed Harry had tasked her with covering up the bruises.
"Thank you," I muttered. "Is he here?" I asked hoping they'd say no.
"Nope, he left this morning a few hours ago" Felix answered. Daniel was still looking over my leg as Felix stepped over to the window, "he told us he'd pick you up at seven tonight."
"Okay, I have a meeting this morning. What time is it?" I asked trying to get out of the bed.
"It's," Felix checked his watch "about 10:30."
"Okay I've got half an hour, it's a good job it's over the phone" I smiled half heartedly at Daniel who helped me up out of bed.
"Right everybody out," Bea pushed her sister and Felix out of the room and shut the door.
Daniel then helped me over to the bathroom, "do you erm need help in there?" He asked sheepishly.
"Uh yeah, I don't think I can stand on this leg. If you can just help me stand I'll do the rest." He turned on the shower for me and helped me undress from the skimpy nightdress. Then he lifted me under the water, "thank you" I mumbled feeling the heat in my cheeks rise but no where else. He kept his gaze on the bathroom door while I sorted myself out. I couldn't help but feel safe with Daniel holding me up like this, I could be vulnerable around him. Guessing that's why I started to cry. Slowly he pulled me out of the shower, wrapped me in a large towel and shut the water off. Then he just cradled me, carrying me back to the bed where he just held me gently against him.
