“Let’s take a trip down memory lane,” Josh laughed to us as he picked the game off the shelf for us all to play on our weekly game night that had sort of turned itself into a little tradition of ours in the past year.
“Memory lane?” I asked.
“Oh Josh. Please don’t choose Mario Kart. We all know what happened the last time that Sammy and George got on Mario Kart,” Jaymi said, referring to the time me and George broke up for one day over him bumping into my kart on Mario Kart which made me fly off the rainbow. It sounds like such a ridiculous reason to break up but I was fuming – I was so close to getting the high score. He cheated his way into winning the game and knows how much I hate cheaters.
“Good point,” Josh laughed uncomfortably, turning around to look at me and George as he put the game back on the shelf. “Maybe Mario Kart isn’t the best option for you two considering your track record with the game.”
“I thought you said you were going to chuck that game away,” George said to me, turning around to look at me as he sat on the floor in front of where I was lounging on the sofa.
“I was going to but Christopher loves it when he comes to stop at mum’s so thought I’d keep it for him,” I smiled.
“I know,” JJ said, getting up from besides me on the sofa and walking over to the games shelf where Josh was still trying to choose a game to play. “This one.”
“Yes!” Josh grinned, putting the game into the Wii console.
As soon as the tune began, I knew exactly what game they had chosen – Just Dance 4. “Oh God.”
Jaymi grabbed the spare remote off the coffee table and stood next to JJ and Josh as they waited for the game to load in anticipation. I couldn’t help but laugh at them as they got excited choosing a song.
“You know what song they’re looking for, don’t you?” George said to me as he rested his head on my leg, looking up at me.
“No,” I smiled, playing with his soft hair.
“Wait for it...” George grinned.
With that, the tune of ‘Beauty and a Beat’ began to play through the speakers and one of the Wii remotes magically appeared on the sofa next to me. “Show us your best moves, Jones,” Josh grinned to me.
“Move out the way, Cuthbert,” I laughed, getting up from the sofa.
