The two of them were in a hallway, right after lunch on a Saturday, sitting so close to each other, on a bench. A bit secluded from everyone, one were giggling at another one's terrible joke, until their stomach started to cramp, trying to stop.
Toby took his wand and conjured birds, just so he could flex that he could conjure it. Lizzy awed at it, while holding her stomach pain after quite a laugh.
'Lizzy, Gale said if a girl really likes me, she'll allow me to french kiss her. Is it true?'
'French kiss? Like kissing in France?'
'No, he said we meet tongues.'
'Meet tongues?' Lizzy laughed, thinking he was joking again.
'Really, we kiss, like usual, like a bit longer, then our tongues get into each other's mouth.'
Lizzy made a face of doubt. 'That sounds... disgusting.'
Toby thought more of it, yet he was determined. 'But they say it's not as bad as it should.'
Lizzy tried to imagine having her tongue met his. She shuddered.
'Should we?' Toby asked in full of hope.
'Uh... I don't know...' Lizzy said, and slid slightly away on her seat, trying to hint that she wasn't up to try something like that.
Toby gave her puppy eyes, begging her to give this a trying chance. Her mind rocked side to side, deciding. Should she? or should she not? this was what Toby wanted to try for the first time too. It's first of everything. She agreed to it then.
'O...kay,' Lizzy said, unsurely.
Toby was ecstatic and he got ready. He put his wand back and slid closer. 'Okay, so they say we kiss normally at first.'
She closed her eyes, feeling nervous everytime, that she didn't know what to expect. Toby's lips touched hers. She was into it. She held his shirt.
But then...
Something slobbery met her lips. She got the idea in seconds.
'Ew!' Lizzy said and shoved him away. She rubbed her lips profusedly with the end of her sleeve. 'Ew...' she groaned. 'No, no, no, Toby, you licked me... ew.'
Toby was stunned in embarassment.
'I'm sorry Toby, it feels weird... maybe... I'm not ready...'
'Oh... yeah... I... I get it... I'm sorry too... Um... yeah...' he sounded in disappointment. He took out his wand again and conjured another bird spell, acting like it didn't happen, while Lizzy kept rubbing her mouth off of his trace.

Joel finished his tranfiguration essay alone, in the common room's study corner. He held it up proudly and read it, just to make sure everything was as good as he had hoped. Suddenly, Padma sat on a chair in front of him. Joel looked up.
Padma leaned forward. 'Listen...' she whispered.
Joel looked around confusingly, before he looked back at her. 'Yeah?'
'I shouldn't tell you this, but I can't stand hearing them squealing and gossiping about you in the dormroom anymore.'
'Who? Why are they talking about me?'
Padma slanted her eyebrows, annoyedly. 'One of the girls fancy you. Can you tell who?'
'...What?' Joel spoke in surprise. His parchment slipped out of his grasp.
'Have you ever realize it?'
No, he never realized it. He never thought of anyone fancying him at all. He had heard people openly praising Anthony Goldstein of how cute and smart he was, but not him. No one had ever openly told him that he was cute and smart. To find out someone fancied him felt like another one of Luna Lovegood's fun fact myth.
Padma rolled her eyes. 'Someone fancies you.'
'W-who, Paddy? Tell me.'
'I can't tell you directly, but don't tell anyone I told you this, got it? I'm tired of hearing her talk about you every day. Please take the hint and go out with her.'
Joel looked around the room. Then he stopped at Sue who was reading a book. Somehow, unexplainably, his thought alligned itself. 'It's Sue... isn't it?' asked Joel, he looked back at Padma.
Padma nodded. She whispered, 'Well I hope you're planning to ask her out cause the longer this goes on, the sadder she will be and it's depressing. Make a move, Joel. Or just tell her that you don't feel the same way. I need peace... and quiet...'
'B-but--'
Just then, Toby Turner entered the common room.
'Hey Toby, where've you been?' said his friend who was sitting around at a sofa.
'Oh you know, with my girl,' Toby said quickly.
'Oi! Toby!' spoke another friend. 'Did ya try?'
'Sod off! Your idea was dumb! She didn't like it!' Toby said and left up to the boys' dorm in a sulk.
Joel's ears were steaming, figuratively. He tried to find ideas of things Lizzy didn't like. What was it that she didn't like to try? No stop it, he denied. He pulled out the sherbet strawberry from his pocket. It was still there, waiting to be given. He glanced at Sue. Something rumbled in his head, thinking that he might never give this sherbet to Lizzy, because Toby was always there at her side. So he stood up and went over to meet Sue.
Sue noticed. She looked up to see that Joel was there for her. Her face immediately blushed. She dug herself in and greeted like normal. 'H-hey Joel,' she said with a higher tone than usual. It was rare to have Joel come up to her like this. It took her a bit in panic.
Joel went to sit next to her. He leaned back and took a deep breath. He was going to give it away. He gave her the sherbet strawberry. 'Do you want it, Sue?'
Sue's eyes gleamed of happiness. 'Sure!' she said. She took it and started unwrapping it.
'So... do you want to go out with me?' Joel asked.
Sue froze, holding the half opened wrapper. She looked at him with such wide eyes, that she might explode into confetti. 'Y-yes... Yes, Joel!' Sue said, smiling widely.
Joel smiled. He leaned in and kissed her cheek.
Sue went deep tomato red, she had exploded into bits. She was absolutely out of her body, screaming in her mind of happiness, shooting up to the sky to tell the stars that Joel Lisbon had just kissed her cheek. He kissed me on the cheek! she mentally screamed. Surely Isobel and Mandy would know soon enough as well. It would be a huge news to all the third years. It was a big deal.
Sue asked, putting the strawberry sherbet in her mouth so giddily. Her wish from the wishing fountain was coming true. 'Should we go on a date on halloween tomorrow? It'll be our very first date ever, Joel!'
'Sounds great,' Joel said, lopsidedly smiling, barely.
'Maybe we can go to Hogsmeade Halloween Festival tomorrow!' Sue added. 'People will know we're now a couple!'
'Okay, sounds fun,' Joel said in the same tone.
He made a mistake and regretted it. Yet he couldn't take it back now. He saw Sue, looking jovial of this encounter that he didn't have the stomach to say: I don't actually have feelings for you though, I'm just feeling really mad right now, I don't know why. He witnessed the sweet that he had bought months ago for Lizzy, was now in Sue, happily having it as if it was for her all along. By that, his heart ached terribly, knowing he had made a mistake.
