Yule ball. A big topic among the students. In such tradition, there would be a lot of dancing between pairs of boys and girls. They had to wear formal attire like dress robes. Yet most of the girls would prefer to look for long dresses. Some would buy one on next Hogsmeade visit or send letters, requesting dresses from home or pre-ordering it. A lot of them needed new shoes for the occasion. All in all, girls were nervous, and boys were terrified.
'It's easier for you girls,' complained Terry. 'You don't have that pressure to make the first move--'
'That's not true! We can--' Mandy tried to say.
'I mean you don't have thee pressure,' said Terry.
They all hung out in the boys' dormroom. They had tea and sweets, as they gathered around in a circle.
'Yeah, you don't have this pressure to proof yourself capable,' said Joel.
'Capable of what?' asked Sue in annoyance.
'Capable of attracting the opposite sex, duh,' said Terry.
'Attracting?' Padma was skeptical.
'You know what I mean,' said Terry. 'We boys have the pressure or it'll go on forever. Oh that's Terry, he's a loser. Forever alone.'
'Maybe that's your reality,' said Isobel, 'No girls want you, just accept it.'
'Why's she here again?' asked Terry spitefully.
'I invited her, you got a problem with that?' confronted Mandy.
'Isobel can be wherever she wants,' said Sue.
'Calm down, we're here for evening tea, right? It's nice we all get together,' said Padma.
'Not sure about this one in particular, no,' said Terry, cocking his head at Isobel.
'I swear--' Isobel took out a wand.
'Try me,' challenged Terry, taking his own wand as well.
'Terry. Isobel,' Michael called.
'No one has to go with a date,' said Padma. 'I'm not even gonna try.'
'Yeah but... there's a code for us. Alpha, beta, omega that kind of stuff. We'll be in the bottom pit if we don't have anyone to go with,' said Terry.
'That's dumb,' said Padma.
'School is dumb already for making this stupid event,' said Terry. 'Why does it have to be a ball, why can't it be just... a rave party or something.'
'If you're in a party, no girls would even talk to y--' Isobel tried.
'That's it! Pullus!' Terry chanted in anger.
'Lapifors!' the other one said.
'Protego!' chanted Anthony. He aimed it at both spells when it met in the middle, the spells burst like firecrackers.
'You can do that?' spoke the others at the same time.
'That's impressive!' said Padma.
Anthony looked around, acting disinterested. The girls were in awe.
'Don't be fooled,' said Terry, rolling his eyes. 'He's actually overjoyed that he did it.'
'Shush, Terry,' said Anthony, putting his wand back.
'So... who's going to... ask who... to the ball?' asked Lisa who had been as quiet as Andika.
Everyone looked at each other. 'Clearly you boys aren't an option unless desperate... except well... Anthony,' said Mandy.
