Lizzy's 15th birthday

She woke up to have the her roomates blast confetti charm onto her. Sandra kept shouting happy birthday and shoved a box shaped present. She laughed, having three of them sing happy birthday first thing in the morning, and sat up to open the box. It was a box full of sweets and an owl plushie. Birthday wishes and mindful presents from her closest friends loomed all day, in classes or at mealtimes. Her favorite thing was her and Joel's date.

She skipped dinner to meet Joel had at the Astronomy Tower. Joel made an deal with Anthony, to let this rule breaking slide. The door to the Astronomy Tower was easily unlocked with magic. She climbed up to the top of the highest point of the castle. And found Joel, waiting with a picnic basket. They ate some pumpkin pasties and strawberry cauldron cake there, watching the dark view to see the stars with bare eyes or with the giant telescope. They settled on the edge of the tower, dangling their bare feet out.

She scavanged the containment of the picnic basket for a drink, but nothing was in it. Without hesitation, Joel got his wand and conjured two goblets. He filled it with water spell.

Lizzy chuckled. 'Of course, you'd be crafty.'

Joel grinned and handed one for her.

'It's so nice up here, I thought it'll be scary at night.'

'Probably a poltergeists or ghosts will pop up anytime soon.'

She elbowed him playfully, kicking up chuckles here and there. 'Thanks for ruining it for me. Now I'm thinking about Peeves.'

Joel laughed.

'Do you remember when the four of us play hide and seek at school? I once hid in the playground tower. It's secluded, like this.'

'Hide and seek...' Joel spoke leisurely, leaning his body by hands. 'Feels so long ago...'

'Yes, isn't it? We didn't care about anything. Bobby and Cole were still nice...' Lizzy was quiet for a moment. 'I haven't told you this, but that night in the nightclub, when Bobby tried to make Stella jealous, he kissed me.'

'He-- what?' Joel said immediately.

'He kissed me, to make her jealous.'

Joel frowned. 'If I'd known, I'd punch him.'

'You didn't see it?'

Joel was surprised. 'No, I was talking to this painter that Cole--' His head was spinning to realize it now. 'Bloody hell. Cole was in on it. When you were going up to the booth, Cole took me to meet someone. I had to listen hours and hours of his paint work.'

'So we both got tricked that night...'

Joel felt his shoulders were heavy. He wanted to go and punch Bobby.

Lizzy put aside the basket, between herself and Joel, aside. She scooted closer to him and gave him a tight hug. 'Don't worry, I'm okay.'

Joel held her in his arms. He could feel her, breathing as she rested on him. 'Lizzy, I love you.'

Lizzy looked up at him. That was unexpected, but she was delighted to hear it. 'I love you too, Joel.'

Joel held her chin for a kiss. It was slow and careful. She let his hands venture parts of her. The pleasure sent half breaths and soft sounds. And Joel knew Lizzy's limit and stopped when she quivered slightly.

They hugged each other then, and felt each other's steady breathing. Their hearts fluttering, feeling each other's touch in gentle embrace.

Calm... and safe.
