Her mum had some creative notes to dress up. It was for work reason. There were a lot of item names and cut up photos from magazines. Items that Lizzy had never worn before. Ankle boots, tanktop crops, leather jackets, jade rings, bangels, and more.

She didn't have a clue where to start. She didn't have the items. She turned on her mum's computer, loading the screen ever so slowly. While she waited for the windows xp to run, she sat on a chair, reading her mum's fashion journal.

'What are you doing there?' mum asked. She was standing by the doorway, curiously.

Lizzy looked at her mum quickly and came up to say, 'Oh, uh... I'm researching outfits...'

'Oh, for what occasion?'

'Just... curious,' she said, awkwardly.

'Oh...' mum went over, seeing the page while brushing Lizzy's hair, a motherly affection. 'When I was your age, I used to try on your grandma's clothes... and of course, she didn't like it and scolded me... but, I fell in love with her pearls, diamonds, and dresses... You should try some outfits of mine, maybe you'll find some things too.'

Lizzy beamed.

Joel didn't want to go where he was about to go. He sulked and worried about what it would be. The thing was, this was Bobby and Cole's idea. A bad idea, in his opinion. It sounded suspicious, but Lizzy wanted to support them of whatever it would be. She wanted to go with them, to know what they do in the muggle world.

Joel could refuse Bobby and Cole. He didn't trust them like he trusted Lizzy. But he didn't want to have her go with them all on her own. Something felt off about it tonight.

When he and Lizzy met them days ago in the ice cream parlor, Bobby and cole acted way different to what he knew in primary. The two of them were more persuasive and... cheeky, almost demanding. They didn't shy away to smoke in public and they admitted to selling drugs. Those two had managed to let Lizzy try a puff and Joel had to do it too.

It felt so long ago to remember his first friendship with Bobby and Cole. Now that memory was a smoke of Bobby's fag.

Tonight, he had to sneak out of the house without his parents' notice. He promised Lizzy, he couldn't tell them. And of course, his parents wouldn't allow him to go to this shady kind of party that Bobby and Cole promised.

Lizzy took length into making herself a sandwich for early dinner, so mum wouldn't ask her again. She wouldn't be in the house by then. She put on full make up that she had never done. Not even when she was in Yule Ball that she wore this much make up on her face. It gave off that maturity to her features. She checked herself in the vanity mirror. What she thought in her head was modern. She grinned excitedly.

Her window was knocked. She looked and saw Joel, crouching at the roof. She went to open the window.

Joel was stunned as he looked at her new look. He looked her from head to toe with unreadable expression.

'What? Do I look weird?' Lizzy asked self conciously.

'You smell nice... uh... well... I've never seen you like this...'

'So... is it good?'

'I... don't know...'

'Oh come on...'

'Alright, you look nice,' he said, just to get it over with. 'Ready to go?'

'Yeah,' she replied in a giggle. She took a second to turn off the lights, before joining him at the roof. She shut her window.
