They didn't bump into their friends the whole time as if the universe had set them up to be alone together. Hearts grew anew. Pages were flipped and written. They were best friends and also in love.

'Let me walk you back,' Joel said.

'Really?' Lizzy hoped in wonder. 'You don't have to.'

They were already walking hand in hand, heading out of the Great Hall after that exhilirating rock concert.

'I want to,' Joel said softly.

That familiar feeling after a good concert, the quiet night, engulfed into serenity. The walk home was spiritual. It was exactly tranquility. Everyone were walking back, footsteps echoed throughout the hallways. And even when they speak, their voices were as quiet as a mouse.

Some girls took off their heels to be more comfortable, while paying the price of the cold flooring. Some of their lovers carried them all the way. Joel would like to do that too if Lizzy had worn heels. But she didn't. So he settled enough, that Lizzy was now his girlfriend and she was holding his hand. Even the brief moment when Lizzy rested her head on his shoulder while they walk, it excited him to the moon.

'I'm curious,' Lizzy started when they headed down from the Grand Staircase. 'What about that girl... what's her name again? Michelle? I thought you're going out with her, but you're here with me, instead.'

Joel sighed. He didn't want to talk about it. 'Let's just say... I've made my decision... And she's not my type anyway. She's too aggressive.'

'Oh really? What's your type?'

'You,' Joel joked.

Lizzy laughed with a fluttering heart. Gosh darn it, she thought to herself. This might be a new side of Joel that she had never seen before. 'Shut up, that's so corny,' she said, but she kept smiling foolishly.

Joel contemplated as he made it to the basement floor. 'Honestly Lizzy, I never thought this will happen. Don't know what I'll do if you didn't like me back.'

'Probably we'll stay friends, then.'

'Oof... that'll hurt a lot, really...'

'We'd work it out.'

'You're sure?' Joel glanced at her.

'I just know we would. We started as friends, right? We'll always be one, always,' Lizzy said in a positive note.

He smiled and squeezed her hand. He thought about it. Yet still, he doubted that the circumstance would work. Added to Michelle's proposition in helping Joel lose his virginity, the thought of keeping friendship with Lizzy would've been unlikely. But it didn't matter now, because the real thing was that Lizzy liked him back, and that's all that mattered.

Lizzy added, 'I really hope we work out.'

'Me too.'

They reached the front door to the Hufflepuff Dormitory. Lizzy wished him good night and kissed his cheek. If only she could see him properly in this dark hallway, she would see how much Joel was blushing red.

Joel waited until she entered the dorm. Everything felt light as air. There was nothing more to think about. He was absolutely, ecstatically, happily, in love. He walked back to his own Dormitory of Ravenclaw. He couldn't even remember how he got back so quickly. All he had in his mind was the bits when he and Lizzy realized they liked each other. He replayed it again and again.

Most people were still in the common room, crowding in, talking, but still exuded a calm atmosphere.

'Joel, there you are, come here,' Terry said.
