Lizzy went to the bedroom and got a sports duffle bag from the closet. She laid it on the bed hurriedly. She looked around, looking at things in the room. Where should she start? Clothes? Medkits?
She went to her closet and got some clothes to pack: sweaters and trousers, knickers, bras, and a towel. Should she pack her toothbrush now? She went to her bathroom and got her toothbrush and toothpaste. She went back and put them in a smaller bag and placed it in the duffle. Soap... she got a new one from a storage under the stairs. She went and put it in. What else? Then knock came from the front door.
'Lizzy! Can you answer the door for me? I'm busy!' Mum called from the home office.
Someone knocked again.
'Just a minute!' Lizzy said, holding the soap on hand.
Three men and one woman in uniform stood there in front of her. They didn't smile. 'Hello... are you Elizabeth Clark?' asked one of them.
Lizzy was strucked in panic, but she didn't show it. 'Who's asking?' she asked, holding the door handle tightly.
A man took out a badge. 'We're the ministry officials from the Ministry of Magic,' he said and put the badge back in his pocket. 'We're here to help you as a Muggleborn. We'll keep you safe. I hope you have heard of the muggleborn registry by now. It is mandatory that all muggleborns to register for their magical identity.'
'I-I think you have the wrong house. I don't understand,' Lizzy lied. Something was going wrong.
The four of them stared sharply. 'May we come in? We have the command to do so.'
'I don't think you should--'
One of them stroded in anyway. 'Excuse me! You can't come in! Mum! They're entering the house!' Lizzy shouted. 'You can't be in here!'
The others followed, while the first person went to the living room. The other one went to the kitchen.
'Living room clear.'
'Kitchen. Clear.'
'Check upstairs.'
'Stop!' Lizzy demanded. She stepped between the one who was about to head upstairs. But instead, she was held against her will. Two of the officials started grabbing on either side of her arms.
'No!' Lizzy said and screamed. 'Let go! Joel! Joel!' She shouted loud, hooing it could reach the other side of the house.
Lizzy's mum looked the commotion and ran down the stairs. 'Get off of her!' She lunged and yanked her daughter away. 'Run! Go!'
Lizzy stumbled as she hastily ran up the stairs to her bedroom. Her mum was yelling and a man yelled back, 'She is safer with us, Ma'am!'
She locked herself in the room. Her head was wiry, trying to find a solution. She felt weak until she remembered her wand. She scavenged around to find it. It wasn't in any of her pockets. Where's my wand? She went to her bedside table to find it, then she went to her desk. The wand was there, and immediately pointed it to the door. 'Colloportus.' A locking charm was enabled for good measure. 'Anti-alohomora,' she added. It didn't matter anymore that she used magic outside Hogwarts. Despite that she still had the underage trace, all she cared about was to stay away.
Footsteps came rushing up the second floor. They bursted open a door. A different door, near the staircase. 'Not here!' One of them said.
Lizzy opened her window in fright. She was just about to climb out when a voice yelled rightly behind her. 'Lizzy!' Joel's voice was in the same fright.
She looked back. 'Joel! Come on, they're coming!' Before she knew what was happening, Joel grabbed her arm and her vision blurred.
She wasn't in her bedroom anymore. She didn't care where she was. All of her attention was Joel's frightened face. She was glad she got away, though stilk unaware where she was. 'Joel---They were--' she said in a frightful excitement. She hugged him with the adrenaline still pumping. 'They almost took me away. Mum pulled me off and I ran--They are in my house!'
