Minho was currently being dragged around the mall by his friends who decided today was a good day to go Christmas shopping.
Minho had already finished all of his shopping back in November, but ue figured that he would still tag along with them, maybe he could find a few things for himself, or more gifts for people.Recently he had forced himself to start hanging out with his friends more, as they had started to wonder why Minho was distancing himself so much.
Chan had informed him a few days ago that their friends were thinking maybe he was depressed or anxious, or there was something else going on that they didn't know about-- which there was.
Minho figured that it would be better to simply put on a smile and pretend to be happy around them than what might happen if they started to dig around in Minho's life to find out what was wrong.
He didn't want his friends to worry either, he loved them and he was super grateful that he had them around, so it would be spoiled of him to push them away like they meant nothing in the first place.
It couldn't possibly be that painful to put on a fake smile for a few hours every few days to make sure that his friend were happy and his secrets stayed secure... right?
Wrong. Dead wrong.
It had only been an hour and a half of being at the shopping mall with his friends, but he was already exhausted and on multiple occasions he felt like giving in and telling all of them everything.
Of course he didn't though, he managed not to cave in and spill it, but it was very hard, especially when he had one on one time with one of his friends, and they just made him feel so cozy inside.
Hw knew that was kind of weird to say, so he'd never actually tell anyone that he felt that way, but it was true. Whenever he was smiling with his friends he felt so... at home?
He wasn't sure how to describe the feeling.
Minho looked around for a moment. He was in a random store he didn't know that name of that seemed to have an assortment of nearly everything.
Hyunjin, Changbin and Chan were also there, and the rest had split off to go pick up some bubble tea, the four of them were supposed to meet them in the food court in a few minutes.
"Hey," Chan looked over to him, "What do you think of these notebooks?" He asked picking one up.
They were one of those things you'd use to right down to do lists and stuff like that, not quite a school notebook. More like a journal.
Minho shrugged, "Who are you getting those for?" He asked, not quote sure who would be asking for something like that.
"Jisung." Chan replied without missing a beat. Minhos eyes got slightly wider and he looked at his brother in confusion. Why would he be getting something for Jisung? He'd met the boy like two times tops.
"W-what? Why? Why are you doing that?" He asked quickly, mentally slapping himself for stuttering.
Chan shrugged, "Kind if like an apology gift?"
"Huh?" Minho kinked his eyebrows together, "Why would you he getting him an apology gift? What did you do to him?"
Chris laughed lightly, smiling at his clueless brother, "It's not what I did, it's about what you did. Y'know, like a 'sorry my brother was an asshole and bullied you, also sorry he stole your diary that held all of your secrets and personal issues that you didn't want anyone else to see-- here's a new one since he's too scared to give back the original one' type thing."
Minho's face started heating up and he felt his cheeks go red. That was absolutely humiliating. "I'm not scared! I just.."
"You just?" He asked, "You're just scared of what might happen when he sees the notes you left in the margins." Chan teased.
"What?" Minhos head swiveled up to look the elder in the face, looking around to see if anyone heard, "Have you been looking in the boom again? Those notes were not there when you last saw it-"
"In fact I have. I mean, I didn't think I'd get to read about the huge crush you-" minho slapped his hand over his brothers face, stopping him from talking anymore.
The last time Chan had seen the book the only notes that Minho had made were the ones about how he could use Jisungs crush on him to pick at the boy.
I little while ago Minho had gone back and crossed all of the black ink notes out in red pen and wrote confession apology confession about his crush on the boy, thinking that Jisung-- or anybody for that matter- wouldn't ever see the book again.
Apparently however, Chan had gone back through the book and read all of the new notes in red pen about Minhos big fat crush.
"No!" He said sharply, "You're not goubg to speak of the things you read in the book ever again, ans you are not buying him an apology gift!" Minho hissed.
Chan raised his hands in the air as if to surrender, "Hey. That fine." He laughed, "It was just an idea-- I'm proud of you though Minho. Admitted these things to yourself is the first step."
Minho watched as Chan started walking away, noticing their other two friend leaving the store together.
Minho looked back over the notebooks, picking one up in his hands that looked especially nice to him.
This one was perfect.
. . .
Minho sat down at his dining room table, placing the book out in front of him.
He had bought it.
He wasn't sure if it would actually end up as a gift to Jisung, or just Minho's personal diary instead of using Jisungs- but he had it.
He opened up to the first blank page, the one right before all of the lined pages started and grabbed a pen, the same red pen he had used to write in the other journal.
He sighed off the date and then, 'dear Jisung,' and continued the message from there.
He scribbled all of his feelings out onto the page, feeling good about the weight that seemed to be temporarily lifted from his chest and shoulder.
At the end he sighned off with his name.
Maybe one day Jisung would read this.
