Once again Jisung sat in his special place in the court room, watching as Jeong-Hoon took yet another post on the podium.
Mr. Kim said that he had a special plan for today, and that he might actually make Jeong-Hoon crack. Who knows, maybe this will be the last time Jisung ever has to go to court.. but probably not.
Jisung hated every time he was called up to the stand, new questions being thrown at him left and right. So far he thought he had been doing a good job and that he had been giving good answers.
Nothing was saying otherwise, anyway.
Jisung was still feeling a little bit better though, knowing that his dad was finally going to at least try to give Minho a chance. He hoped that it would be soon too, because he didn't know how much longer he could go without Minho.
Sometimes he stayed up late at night pretending that his pillow what Minho's chest and that he was falling asleep in the latter's arms—sometimes that was the only way he could get a good night's rest.
It sounds stupid and clingy but it was seriously true. Jisung was suffering from a lack of vitamin Minho and if he didn't get it soon he might die.
Well, not really die, but you get the point.
Right now Jisung wasn't thinking about that though, he was staring intently at Jeong-Hoon as he gave his usual sad, boo-hoo, 'I've been betrayed by all my friends' answers to the questions Mr. Kim was asking.
Mr. Gwan was always trying so hard to make Jisung look bad, and the boy was sad to say that sometimes it really did work.
"Mr. Kang, would you say that you had a romantic connection to Mr. Han Jisung?" Mr. Kim asked, his usual tone being replaced with a questioning, smug one.
"Not at all. Purely platonic." He shook his head, eyes full of pitiful sorrow. Jisung was always amazed at Jeong-Hoon's acting skills.
"Mhm. Why do you think that so many witnesses believe you had a romantic obsession with Mr. Han Jisung then?"
He shook his head, "Maybe I gave off that vibe, but I seriously just wanted to become more of his friend since him and Minho seemed to be so close."
"Right. How do you explain the conversation JinYoung says you had with him on the topic of raping Mr. Han Jisung?"
He shrugged now, "No idea. It was all made up, I'd never say something sick like that."
"Okay. Now another question, did you have any nicknames for Mr. Han Jisung?"
"I believe I called him Jiji.." Jeong-Hoon said slowly, as if debating whether he should admit it.
"And you didn't call anyone else by that name?"
Jeong-Hoon glanced around the room, "Uhm.. no, I don't think I did."
"Right, well I'm going to play something for you. This is a video recording taken by a witness that chooses to stay anonymous." Mr. Kim qued for someone to play something on a large projector.
The video was simply of a blank wall outside one of the school bathrooms, but the audio that played over was the actual evidence.
Jisung tensed up as he heard Jeong-Hoon's voice flutter through the room out of the speakers, saying something that Jisung had heard before.
He was going over his usual speech on how no one loved Jisung and he was the only reason anyone would love him. He only reffered to Jisung as Jiji though...
When the clip stopped Mr. Kim turned to a rather flustered Jeong-Hoon, "Was that your voice on the clip?"
Jeong-Hoon didn't have any choice but the truth, "Well.. yes.."
"And you said that the only person you reffered to as 'Jiji' was Mr. Han Jisung, correct?"
He nodded again, "I did say that.." he knew that he had been caught in 4k now, dread and fear dripping over Jeong-Hoon's face.
"So it's safe to assume this was a video of you communicating with Mr. Han Jisung?"
He nodded, his voice coming out as no more than a whisper, "Yes.."
"I don't know about you, Mr. Kang, but the things you said in the video seem pretty incriminating. Would you say?" Mr. Kim had a smug look on his face, proud of himself.
This was when Jeong-Hoon snapped, leaning forward in his seat and glaring over it at Mr. Kim, "It was unfair! Minho is a coward and a bitch, why did he get to have Jisung?! He didn't deserve him!" His gaze landed over on Jisung, his teeth clenched, "You could have had me but you chose Minho! You chose him over me, for what?! What did he have that I didn't?! Money?! You shallow little bitch—"
Jisung watched in horror, tears prickling at his eyes as a two policemen started to drag Jeong-Hoon from the stand. This didn't stop the boy from continuing to yell though, now directed at Minho, "You're nothing! I always knew you'd be the one to ruin everything—I should have fucking killed you while I had the chance—"
Minho stood up, looking like he was about to get in a fist fight—again. His dad kept him back though, not letting history repeat itself.
Jisung slowly turned back to face forward, only letting himself hear how Jeong-Hoon kept growing, yelling out for the younger's attention. He didn't believe this was real, that Jeong-Hoon had genuinely just incriminate himself.
He did wonder who took the video, but maybe that was a question for another time...
As the doors of the court room closed and Jeong-Hoon was now out of sight and ear shot, Mr. Han placed his comforting hand around Jisung's shoulders pulling him into a tight hug.
The room was silent with nothing but a few muffled whispers and voices, talking about the confession that uad just come barreling towards him.
Jisung started to let the tears fall.
He looked across the room at Minho who looked back at him. The elders angry features soon contorted into gentle ones. The same question floated through the both of their heads:
Was this.. the end?
