Yujun watched suspiciously as Chan moved throughout her kitchen making conversation with Felix.
The two of them were making brownies together, specifically Felix was teaching the elder his one of a kind recipe. Yujun found this crazy though because Felix guarded that recipe with his life.
Yet he was telling it to Chan in such great detail?
She had only met the boy in person one or two times so she didn't have a huge feel for what type of person he was, but she did consistently hear her son gushing about how awesome he was.
He talked about how kind he was, how much he cared, how patient he was, how pretty he was, how 'tall' he was, how stong he was, how nice his hair felt, how good he smelt—literally anything you could imagine, Felix talked about it.
"Wait—no, no, no, you can't out the eggs in yet, the milk has to go in first!" Felix scolded, taking the carton of eggs from Chan.
The elder looked at him, "They're both wet ingredients, what difference does it make?" He asked, reluctantly grabbing the milk.
Felix rolled his eyes. Chan was great and all, but he simply didn't understand the delicacy of baking brownies and how import this step was.
"It helps the brownies be soft." Felix said, kind of making the reason up on the spot. The real reason was simply that he always put the milk in first, but Chan didn't need to know that.
"But that doesn't make any sense, why would—"
Felix cursed Chan's scientific brain.
"It just does." He cut him off, now handing the eggs to put them into the bowl.
The two of them heard Mrs. Lee stifle a laugh in the background so they looked over at her. She smiled, "He's lying."
Felix whined, "MoOoOmM—"
"The only reason he does that is because he likes the look of when he mixes the eggs into the milk. He did it once and now he does it forever." She shrugged, eating a chocolate chip off of the counter.
"Thats totally not true—I'm not childish like that I swear. I have method and reason to everything I do." He assured the elder, mixing the eggs into the milk.
"Ah, that's why you lied." Chan smiled, a teasing grin on his face.
"Hm?"
"Because you don't want to seem childish?" Chan poked him in the stomach smiling all goofy.
Felix blushed, "I'm not. I'm so mature."
Chan shook his head, still smiling, "Yeah, sure, sure. Whatever helps you sleep at night, right? Just like your stuffed animals."
Felix blushed harder, "My stuffed animals are for decorating, I just think they're cute."
"Don't lie Yongbok, you sleep with those all the time. Don't they have names too?" Yujun asked, eyeing him with a teasing look.
"He does, he was hugging one when I woke him up this morning." Olivia walked into the kitchen, stealing a spoon from the counter.
Felix looked distressed, being out numbered like this. A hot blush covered his cheeks and neck, creeping up his ears. He didn't want Chan to see him like a baby, he wanted him to see him like a grown up. Mature.
"Hey Mom could you drive me to the store please?" Olivia asked, slipping her shoes on.
Their mother nodded, getting from the kitchen stool and leaving to grab her jacket. The two boys worked in silence, Felix not wanting to say anything to get himself more embarrassed.
Two minutes past of the working alone, without speaking, before Chan finally said something, "Y'know, I think it's cute." He was spreading the batter into the pan now.
Felix turned away, not really answering. His sister and mother had totally screwed him over and now he was humiliated in front of his boyfriend.
"I'm serious Felix. Plus, I already knew this. That one time you fell asleep at my house you clung to my pillow, I kind of figured you slept with stuffies." He shrugged, stopping what he was doing to give his full attention to the younger.
"I only sleep with them sometimes." Was all the boy muttered.
Chan smiled, placing his chin on the youngers shoulder and wrapping his arms around his waist. Felix still had his back turned, pretending he the older wasn't even there.
"Come on Felix, I don't care if you sleep with stuffed animals. For this relationship to work you can't be insecure about such silly things." He squeezed tighter.
Felix whined, "I'm sorry, but you have to promise to see me as an adult." He turned around and held out his pinky, "Even if I sleep with stuffed animals, put the milk in first, play slip 'n slide with socks and hardwood floor, still love the game 'What time is it Mr. Wolf', colour with crayons, play caterpillar with a sleeping bag, have pillow fights at sleepovers, pretend to firebend candles, have concerts in the shower, play shadow puppets and have only ever kissed one person one time."
Chan laughed at the younger, shaking his pinky with his own, "I pinky promise. Even if I might have never even known some of that stuff about you—and you should know that I'll love you either way, considering I'm that one person you kissed."
Felix's jaw dropped. Did he say love?
Love? Love? Love?!
"What? Is something wrong?" Chan asked, placing his hand on Felix's lower back.
"Oh—" he snapped out of it, "No, nothing. Sorry I just had a funny moment. Thank you for liking me either way."
Chan smiled, noticing that he replaced the word, but didn't say anything about it. That was Felix's way of saying he wasn't ready...
