The court room itself was enough to make Jisung tremble with nerves as he sat on the benches next to his father and lawyer with Minho's team beside them.
Upon entering Jisung had kept his eyes on the ground at all times, and while giving his account of the events he didn't look out into the audience once, fearing what he might end up seeing.
Was sitting up there talking about all of this humiliation and shame the worst part though? No. It was right after when Jeong-Hoon gave his part to the story.
Not two sentences in and he was already playing a victim card, using his expert lying skills to seem totally innocent – not only this but it was absolutely working.
When Jisung's eyes roamed the room he couldn't help but see sympathetic faces looking towards him—expect for Chan who seemed to stand out particularly as having his jaw clenched and eyes fixed on Jeong-Hoon in a deadly glare.
This encouraged Jisung to peer over at Minho, who seemed to be even more livid. It honestly looked like he was about to get out of his seat and start throwing punches.
"I mean, Minho was my best friend Mr. Kim, to think that he's trying to do this to me is.. well it's painful to think of." Jeong-Hoon's voice was sweet like honey as Mr. Kim questioned him.
Jeong-Hoon also seemed to have a lawyer, his name was Mr. Gwan and he had absolutely grilled Jisung with questions a few moments ago. Thankfully Jisung had been trained on how to answer all of them so it did no harm to the case.
Mr. Kim nodded before going back to where Jisung sat, isolated from everyone else, and grabbed a file off the desk. He swiftly pulled out a peice of paper and walked back over to Jeong-Hoon, "Tell me Mr. Kang," he held the image up for him to see, "Do these marks look recognizable to you?"
"Uhm.. no. I can't say they are." Jeong-Hoon shook his head wearily.
"Hm." He turned to show the judge and jury, "These are images of marks left on Mr. Han Jisung's back, stomach and arms from a day of school, put there by Mr. Kang. He often times used his sharp nails as a sort of knife, to cut through Mr. Han's skin in a fortitude of places."
Jisung's cheeks flushed red with images of his bare skin being shown to the entire court room.
The other lawyer suddenly stood up, "Objection your honor, with all due respect that looks to be the torso of a female; Mr. Han Jisung was born a male."
The judge looked at Mr. Kim, "Can you confirm that these images are of Mr. Han's body?"
Mr. Kim nodded confidently, "Yes I can."
Jisung was now even more absolutely embarrassed. Mr. Gwan had just pointed out the one thing Jisung hated most to the entire court room. And for what? To be told he was wrong.
"Do you have any farther questions for the defendant?" The judge asked. Jisung was unsure of what his name actually was.
"In fact I do, your honor." He placed the image back on the table infront of Jisung, "Where were you, Mr. Kang, February 10th at 11:30am? You were supposed to be in your physics class but seemed to skip."
Jeong-Hoon pretended to think for a moment, "My guess is that I was feeling sick or something and decided to take a break. That was a while ago now so I can't really recall."
"Thats interesting. You'd think you'd remember tripping Mr. Han Jisung in the hallway and berating him with insults. What was you're quote? 'You have no opinions'. Directed at Mr. Han Jisung of course."
Jeong-Hoon shook his head slowly with a makeshift look of confusion on his face, "I've never said anything like that." He looked over at Jisung was a hurt look in his eyes, "How could you say something like that?"
Jisung opened his mouth to speak and shook his head, but his father quickly stopped him.
"Mm. Well that seems to contradict our witness statement. Mr. Han [Sr.] says that Jisung came to the office crying, as he had been picking him up from school when the incident occurred. Jisung had reported in the car that the two of you had run in with one another, but refused to give further details."
Jeong-Hoon pursed his lips slightly, "I don't know what sparked him to cry, but it had nothing to do with me."
Mr. Kim simply nodded, "I have no further questions."
Jisung felt tears prick at his eyes as Jeong-Hoon got up to leave the booth where he sat. As he walked he passed directly beside Minho, throwing him a dirty smile as if to say 'I win'.
With that, Minho stood abruptly and winded his fist back before anyone could stop him, throwing a steady punch to the taller's face. He immediately got pulled backwards by his own father, but still looked down at Jeong-Hoon who was now sitting on the floor with a bloody nose and said,
"You filthy fucking liar! I'll kill you—"
