Shaurya was in and out of fevers the rest of the day. And Anokhi was constantly by his side. She had missed her dinner time as his fever had spiked and she couldn't just have her meal looking at him that way. The doctor had told it was most likely viral infection and would come down in a couple of days. The night passed the same way as the previous night. By next day Anokhi had barely gotten any sleep. She felt half dead but kept it together for Shaurya some how. Devi didn't still completely trust Anokhi. She would come to check if Shaurya is taken care of atleast four times even in the brief one hour that she would go to check up on lunch. She had gone to attend to some household work for an hour or so. When she came back she found Anokhi shivering herself under the rug. Anokhi slowly walked to the washroom. And when she came out Devi for the first time saw her. That there was another human. A human who needed rest at the very least if not care.
Devi-Anokhi tum bohot tired lag rhi ho. Rest kar lo. Mein yhi hoon. Chahe toh rest kar lo. Shaurya ke paas.
(For the first time Devi didn't choose misogynistic words and said what she felt directly because she didn't think it was the right time to be hurtful when Anokhi was down and out. Till a few moments before she avoided cruel words to not hurt Shaurya but she realised that this was not the time to use hurtful words against Anokhi who was tired and upset.)
Anokhi-Mein theekh hoon. Shaurya ko pandra minute mein medicine dena hai.
Devi-Mein hoon naa. Please rest kar lo. Please bol rhi hoon.
Anokhi was almost stumbling. Devi helped her till the bed and found her body was burning.
Devi-Yeh bukhar hai tumhe bhi kab se hai.
Anokhi-Ussi raat se jabse Shaurya ko hai. Bas Mera mild tha. Shaurya ko bohot zyada weakness thi. Isliye usko abhi tak nhi pata ki mujhe bhi fever hai. Please mat kahiye usse. Woh pareshan ho jayenge.
Devi realises that she really loved Shaurya a lot. No one could love someone so much.
Devi-I was wrong. Shayd tum kabhi bhi ek Sabbarwal nhi ban sakti but Shaurya ki partner, uski khushi zaroor ban gyi ho. Humesha ke liye.
Anokhi-Mujhe kisike approval ki zaroorat nhi hai. Mere upar taras kyu kha rhe ho aap?
Anokhi lays on the bed but she can't bear to shut her eyes. She has to know how Shaurya felt. She wanted to stay for him every single minute.
Devi-Anokhi rest kar lo. Atleast Shaurya ke liye.
Anokhi-Mujhse nhi hoga.
Devi-Mein bhi keh doongi sab Shaurya ko.
Anokhi-Achaa theekh hai.
She shut her eyes but she would open it after every five minutes to look at how Shaurya was doing. But finally exhaustion got the better of her. Devi looked at both of them. She looked at her Shaurya who seemed in peace only when Anokhi's hand was in his hand. There was a point when Anokhi turned and their hands got separated. Shaurya's hand even when he was asleep was scrambling in bed searching for Anokhi's hand. Devi brought Anokhi's hand to Shaurya's hand and Shaurya smiled softly in his sleep. Devi smiled too looking at his smile. She decided to go to inform Tej about Shaurya's situation and also about Anokhi's leaving Kanchan to the job of checking up on them.
Devi-Woh Anokhi ko bhi bukhar ho gya hai.
Tej-Toh? Usko maike bhej do uske. Woh dekh lenge. Ab Shaurya bhi toh nhi hai theekh naa. Sahi mauka hai.
Devi-Tej. Yeh kya keh rhe ho? Humare bete ko zaroorat hai uski.
Tej-Toh kaun rakhega uska dhyaan. Uss Anokhi ka. Aise pade bhi toh rakh sakte. Kal kuch ho gya toh?
Devi-Tej. Mein ek baat samjh gyi hoon. Yeh sach hai ki Anokhi Sabbarwal nhi ban sakti but Anokhi se better life partner nhi hai Shaurya ke liye. Woh sabse best hai uske liye. I wish Shagun shi hoti. But ab pata hai nhi hai woh. Shaurya se sabse zyada pyaar karti hai Anokhi. Aur Shaurya ki zaroorat, uski bhallai ka dhyaan rakhna aapka toh nhi pata but meri responsibility hai. Isliye mein dekh lungi dono ko.
Tej-Devi. Pagal ho gyi hai?
Devi-Nhi. Sach bol rhi hoon Tej. Jis tarah usne Shaurya ka khayal rakha hai mein bhi nhi rakh pati. Uski choti choti zarooraton ka dhyaan. Uski choti choti discomforts ka dhyaan. Matlab Shaurya itna sa bhi hilta hai toh Anokhi samjh jati hai ki usko kya chahiye. Ek bhi aisi cheez nhi hai jiska usne dhyaan naa rakha ho. Toh Anokhi ko mein sambhal lungi. Shayd mein usse bahu nhi manti but Shaurya ki biwi manti hoon. Shaurya ke liye atleast uska dhyaan rakhungi.
Tej-Yeh mamta galat insaan ke liye jag uthi hai. Aastha aur Anokhi ek jaise hai.
Devi-Haan aur dono sahi hai Shaurya ke liye.
Tej-Yeh kya keh rhi ho.
Devi-Maine yeh nhi kahan ki usse bahu manti hoon but mein usko bas Shaurya se alag nhi karungi. Uske liye kuch karne ka irada nhi hai mera. Bas Shaurya ko jis cheez se khushi milti hai woh nhi cheenungi.
And Devi leaves. Tej is shocked.
Devi-Ab kaisi hai?
Kanchan-Ab Shaurya bhaiya theekh hai thode. So rhe hai. But uth jayenge toh pata chalna hi hai naa ki Anokhi ko bukhar hai. (She never expected Devi to ask about Anokhi and that's why she told about Shaurya. But Devi was asking about Anokhi.)
Devi-Mein Anokhi ke baare mein puch rhi thi.
Kanchan was shocked.
Devi-Bologi?
Kanchan-Woh usko bohot zyada bukhar ho gya hai.
Devi-Dekhne do.
She pushed Kanchan away to check. This was new for Kanchan.
Anokhi had started sleep talking. She was talking to or about Shaurya, about his fever or sickness. Devi got emotional.
Devi-Shaurya theekh hai ab.
After her repeated assurances only Anokhi could be calmed down but she would still once in a while ask about him in sleep. Devi would keep applying cold patches. Meanwhile Shaurya was stirring from his sleep.
Shaurya-Badi maa yeh Anokhi ko kya hua hai? Yeh aise?
He starts running his fingers through her hair.
Devi-Bukhar hai tez. Usne mana Kia tha bolne se but ab uski tabiyat bohot kharab hai. Isliye bata rhi hoon.
Shaurya-Badi maa mein kar deta hoon.
Devi-Nhi mein kar rhi hoon.
Shaurya-Aapne bola uska dhyaan nhi rakhoge naa toh? Mere liye kar rhe ho taki mein strain naa ho jaoon?
Devi-Nhi kyunki woh tumhari biwi hai. Woh bahu nhi ban sakti but biwi hai. Aur teri khushi uss mein hai aur teri har khushi ka dhyaan mein rakhti aayi hoon aur rakhungi.
Shaurya-Maa jab woh aapke liye kuch hogi tab karna.
Devi-Par.
Shaurya-Mein dekhta hoon. Aur Kanchan ko bhejiye. Woh bhi isse kuch toh manti hai. Hum dono milke sambhal lenge. Aur mein apna bhi khayal rakhunga. Ab bohot ho gya beemari. Jaldi se woh bhi theekh ho jayegi aur mein bhi.
