Chapter 5 - The Start of Term

Y/N's POV

I woke up to the soft tapping on the window beside my bed. I looked over to see my owl, Snowflake with a reply to my letter last night tied to her leg. Immediately, I let her in and took the letter. Snowflake was quietly picking at owl treats as I read my Mother's letter.

My Dear, Y/N

I am delighted to hear that you are alright. I know it must've been a horrible experience for you and your friends. Best believe that your Father had already discussed with Lucius Malfoy regarding the unwarranted behavior of these Dementors who lingered on the Hogwarts Express that day.

Any changes that has happened to you lately? Your father said that more Silvermade traits might show up for you. Do send me an owl if you are feeling anything out of the ordinary, or if there is something amiss.

I love you, my darling. Keep safe.

More Silvermade traits? What are they talking about? I thought it was just the hair. Is it not?

I decided to put off writing a reply to my mother and instead focused on getting myself ready for the day.

After all, it is the start of term.

I took a shower and brushed my teeth. I had woken up earlier than usual so I had a few more extra minutes under the hot shower. By the time I was done in the bathroom, Daphne had just woken up and Pansy was only starting to stir herself awake.

I went on and buttoned up my white long sleeved uniform, tied my Slytherin tie with magic, pulled my jumper over my head, and wore my skirt. I pulled on my black stockings and put on my shoes, finishing it all up with my Slytherin robes. I used to hate how flowy it was, and that I often tripped on it but now that it serves a bit of a shroud over my developing body, I was thankful.

I sat on my bed and pulled out my schedule sheet for the first term, giving it another run over so I can somewhat memorize it.

I was glad to have so much free period on Fridays, there is no better way to welcome the weekend after all. But I was most thankful since this coming Friday was the tryouts for Quidditch.

I've been wanting to play Chaser since my first year, but first years aren't allowed to participate in Quidditch — with the exception of Harry,  ofcourse — and during our second year, Malfoy had practically bought himself in the Quidditch Slytherin team so no tryouts were held then. I was fuming last year to say the least, but this year — this year I would make the team. I'll make sure of it.
