The five of us stood there, not saying anything, while my cheeks turned bright red, for a good five minutes. I was mortified that they heard what I've said to Cedric, but I was also feeling quite conscious because of the way they were all staring at me.

Daphne had on a look that was a mixture of confusion and shock, which both Theo and Blaise mirrored, while Draco's expression was much harder for me to read. He seemed shocked as well, but also angry, and there was that quick flash of sadness in his eyes too, but I figured it was just a product of my imagination because why would Draco be sad?

"Hey," I said awkwardly, forcing a smile. "Where's Pansy?"

It maybe took another full minute before Theo broke the silence with his loud exclaims.

"You kissed Diggory?!"

I braced myself for the following questions that would rain on me, but instead Daphne took one deep breath then grinned at me widely.

"Pansy's still with Dean." She said. Her eyes bulged out of her head as she laughed nervously. "I reckon they're shagging or something."

"Oh really? Good for them." I mirthlessly laughed along.

It was obvious that she was also trying not to acknowledge the fact that they did overhear what I said, and I was tremendously grateful for that.

Unfortunately, Theo did not seem to get the memo. "Why are we talking about Pansy?! We just heard Y/N tell Diggory that it was nice kissing him!"

"Theo!" Daphne snapped.

Blaise placed one hand on Daphne's shoulder. "Darling, I know you and Y/N are avoiding the topic, but it's such a ginormous elephant in the room that we can't really ignore it."

"No! We are not talking about it unless Y/N wants to." Daphne said, then quickly pointed to me. "Do you want to Y/N?"

I shook my head vehemently. "Absolutely not."

"I thought so." Daphne nodded her head. "Then, goodnight to all of you. Y/N and I would like to rest now."

"You're just going to gossip on your own!" Theo complained. "I want to be in on it too!"

Daphne darted him a glare. "Shut up, Theo."

Daphne quickly grabbed my hand and dragged me behind her as we climbed up the stairs to the girls' dormitory. I mumbled a goodnight to the three boys who couldn't squeeze another word in with how fast Daphne was controlling the situation. Blaise and Theo weakly waved at us, while Draco just stared at me until I disappeared from his line of sight.

The moment Daphne shut the door to our dorm room, she glowered at me.

"Spill."

"What happened to 'we're not going to talk about it unless Y/N wants to'?" I protested.

Daphne glared. "I saved your arse down there. If I didn't, you'd instead be explaining in front of Blaise, Theo, and Draco."

"Can I at least get out of my gown first?" I grumbled.

"Fine." Daphne said. "We each have ten minutes."

"But I want to shower —"

"Ten minutes!"

Begrudgingly, I proceeded to go inside the bathroom and hastily removed my makeup, washed my face, brushed my teeth, removed the pins in my hair, and take a shower. In exactly ten minutes I was out, and it was Daphne's turn. She didn't give me much time to come up with an excuse as to why Cedric and I kissed because she was done before the ten minutes was up.
