We walked inside the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and saw that Professor Lupin was already there, calling the crowd of students to settle. The chairs and desks were removed, so we all had to stand as we focused our attention on Lupin.

An old wardrobe stood in front of the class. It was shaking by itself, which made me a little nervous.

Draco, Pansy, Theo, Blaise, and Daphne decided to stand at the side, just near Harry and Ron who were right at the front. I was intrigued about whatever was inside the wardrobe, so I decided to stand next to the two boys instead.

"What do you reckon that is?" I asked Harry and Ron. They both shrugged, their attention still on the wardrobe.

"That's a Boggart, that is." Dean Thomas said from in front of me.

"A Boggart?" I asked absentmindedly.

As if on cue, Professor Lupin started talking.

"Today, we'll be tackling Boggarts. Can anyone tell me what Boggarts are and what it looks like?"

"No one knows."

I whipped my head to the side, seeing Hermione answer.

"When did she get here?!" Ron exclaimed, looking as shocked as I was.

"Yeah! You weren't there before, Hermione!" I said in agreement to Ron.

Hermione ignored us and continued to answer Professor Lupin's question.

"Boggarts are shape-shifters. They take the shape of whatever a particular person fears the most. That's what makes them so —"

"So terrifying, yes." Professor Lupin finished Hermione's sentence.

"Luckily, a very simple charm exists to repel a Boggart. Let's practice it now. Without wands, please." He continued.

"After me, Riddikulus!"

"Riddikulus!" The class echoed.

"Very good. A little louder and very clear." Professor Lupin instructed.

"Riddikulus!"

"Riddikulus!" The class shouted, this time louder and clearer.

"This class is ridiculous." I heard Draco say with a sneer.

I looked over at him and glared. He met my eyes and gave me a shrug as I returned my attention to Professor Lupin.

"Very good. But you see, the incantation alone is not enough. What really finishes a Boggart is laughter. You need to force it to assume the shape of something you find utterly amusing." Professor Lupin explained.

"Let me show you." He then glanced around the classroom. "Uh...Neville, would you join me please?"

Neville walked gingerly towards Lupin.

"Neville, what frightens you most of all?" He asked.

"Pro....ss...S...pe" Neville mumbled.

"Sorry?"

"Professor Snape." Neville repeated, clearly this time.

The class laughed, although Neville looked terrified even as he said Snape's name.

"Ah! Professor Snape, yes. Frightening." Lupin chuckled. "And I believe you live with your grandmother?"

"Yes. But I don't want that Boggart to turn into her, either." Neville answered shakily.

"No." Lupin chuckled. "I want you to picture her clothes. Only her clothes, very clearly, in your mind. When I open that wardrobe, here's what I want you to do — "
