Jack's POV

Peyton and I sat on the kitchen floor. I held her tight in my arms. A part of me wished that the closer I held her, the fractures of her heart would heal. Seeing Peyton fall apart broke my heart. The miscarriage was difficult but it was even more difficult watching Peyton suffer. I ran my fingers through her hair. I didn't know what else to do but just hold her. We stayed like that for a while, the quiet humming of the air conditioning in the background. "Hey, P. Come here," I said, lifting her into my arms. She didn't protest, rather just wrapped her arms around my neck and buried her head in. Her little body laid bridal style in my grasp as I walked us out of the apartment. Peyton didn't even question where we were going at 5 am. It made me sad to think she was that broken up about the whole baby thing. My thoughts drifted away as we got to the end of the hall. I opened the door at the end and placed Peyton on her feet. She seemed real out of it but managed to find her voice. "Where are we going?" She asked. "Just follow me, baby," I said as I walked up the stairs on the other side of the door. She reached for my hand and followed behind me. We made our way onto the roof, it was still dark and a cold breeze blew through the air. Peyton shivered as she gazed out over the view. "Wait here for just a sec," I told Peyton. She nodded and I jogged back downstairs.

Peyton's POV

I sat on the roof and waited for Jack to return. By that time, my tears had run dry. The cool morning air felt refreshing on my face. I pulled my knees close to my chest and closed my eyes. The door slammed behind me and I turned to see Jack. He walked over to me with the comforter from our bed in his arms. I couldn't help but smile seeing that sight. He smiled back. "I couldn't find any other blankets so this was my best bet," he chuckled. Jack sat down next to me and wrapped the blanket around us. I leaned into him and rested my head on his shoulder. "I wanted to watch the sunrise with you," he said quietly. I smiled. Even during the worst moments, Jack had the ability to make me smile. The sun began to glow across the horizon a little more. "You know Peyton," Jack began. "It's all going to be okay. It seems really shitty now, but I don't know, I can't help but think all of this happens for a reason." I stared ahead as I listened to Jack's raspy voice. "I'm so sorry this happened, but just think of everything we've already gotten through together. We survived a long distance relationship, a break up, and me almost dying. We're stronger together so I know you can get through this. And just keep thinking of the future. Johnson and my music career is going to take off, you can travel the world with us, just like you've always wanted. You're going to a great university where you can get your degree so then you can work with kids in hospitals, which is your dream. You and I can get married. Have our babies when were ready. We can raise our own family and make thousands of memories. Grow old together. I want to do it all with you, Peyton Rose. The good and the bad." I smiled at Jack's words. "I want to do it all and more with you, too, Jack Gilinsky." I whispered to him while turning to look up at him. He smiled down at me. "So don't be sad, we have so much ahead and I'm going to be here for you through everything, thick and thin." I nodded my head and gazed up at him. "How did I get so lucky?" I asked him. He chuckled and pulled me closer. We both looked at the sunrise that was reaching higher in the sky. "Damn, it's incredible how beautiful this world is." Jack murmured. While he was captivated with the sky, I was captivated by him. I wish I could find a way to tell him that the beauty he saw in that sunrise was the beauty I saw everytime I looked at him. I wanted to wake up to that smile and brown eyes every morning for the rest of my life. Everything Jack had said I wanted, too. I wanted to spend forever with him. My heart was still broken from the loss of our baby but Jack's words had made me feel so much better. I couldn't think of anyway to repay him for healing such a wound. Jack got up from our position then and pulled out his phone. He stood closer to the edge and took a picture of the sunrise. I found my phone in my sweatshirt pocket and took a picture of him standing there with the sun in the background. I needed to capture the moment. The moment where it was clear I had found my soulmate, the boy I wanted to spend my life with. I smiled as I watched him and the California morning expand in front of us. I couldn't help but think that all our troubles were over and that we could just be in paradise...together.
