Not only that it was monday and the first day of the week, it was bad enough! but that was the day we had PE. It wasn't that i hated PE, but i really sucked at it and there was always some kind of ball sport that we would play, surely it would be like that even today.
My head had now returned to its natural color and shape and i really didn't want to risk experiencing another few weeks as walking tomato.
I sighed as i put my hair up in a high ponytail. Hopefully i wouldn't have to play on Thomas team this time. It couldn't be too much to ask, could it? if Eric, the teacher had a little behind the forehead, he should understand that it wouldn't be very successful to have me and Thomas on the same team, he actually knew about it.
"Starting to get ready?" Brooke asked, tying the last knot on her shoes.
"Yeah, as ready as i can be. I'm just in to get approved, everything else i don't care about" i said and turned to her.
"That makes the two of us, do you know what we're going to do today?"
"No, but as long as it's not basketball, i'm happy" i muttered and started to walk away towards the door that led straight into the gymnasium.
Asusual me and brooke were the last to enter and the sight that greeted me made me want to run back to the locker room and lock the door.
"Ugh, floorball" Brooke mumbled with a sigh as we slowly walked towards the others.
"How come you two are always last to class?" Eric asked, crossing his arms over his chest.
I raised my eyebrows questioningly and glanced at Brooke, whose cheeks had turned a faint red.
"It's probably because they're retarded," said Thomas, who was playing with a floorball just behind Eric.
Where the hell did he get air from? i thought bitterly, putting my hands to my sides.
"Or we just don't want to spend any more time than necessary with someone as fucked up as you!" i said loudly so that the laughter echoed between the walls of the hall.
"Stop now....both of you" said Eric pointing militarily between me and Thomas.
"Come on, today is floorball and as usual we split into two teams" he continued loudly and blew his whistle.
When the teams were split i couldn't be more pleased. Brooke was on my team and Thomas was not. That was a victory in itself. Maybe eric had some sense that he didn't put the two of us on the same team.
I grinned at Brooke and lightly nudged her side as we each picked up a stick. Floorball still wore much better than basketball, i thought and turned around, only to crash right into Jake.
"You are on my team sweetie, i will teach you how to play" he said and winked as he put one arm around my shoulders.
"I know how to play" i said glancing at Brooke who was biting her lips to keep from bursting out laughing.
"You may know that, but i'm awsome so we will help each other" he said with a smile without letting me go.
Like during any other PE lesson i had planned to sit on the bench, i didn't want to spend more time on the field than necessary but Dylan directed me straight onto the field. Seriously, i thought as i met Thomas gaze on the other side of the pitch. Sure a floorball wasn't as big and hard as a basketball but the look that Thomas directed at me said it was going to be anything but a friendly game.
"Stay close to me" Jake whispered and removed his arm from my shoulders to start the match.
I stood paralyzed when Eric released the ball. The match was on and it didn't take many seconds before Jake and Thomas start fight for the ball.
It looked more like a wrestling match than a floorball match but in the end Jake won that battle and ran with the ball down the sideline.
"Y/n! Run!" he shouted making me jump and start running towards the opponents goal.
I don't know how it happened, but before i knew it i had the ball on the clubhead and headed it into the goal. I have scored!
I spun around and jumped up and down when Jake came up and lifted me up in his arms and spun me around a few times until i burst out laughing.
"I did it, i scored!"
"So fucking good!" he said and let me down. I laughed and looked over at Brooke who was jumping as excitedly as i had just been and clapping her hands.
Sure, maybe it was a bit silly but i had never scored before. As embarrassing as it is, i was just as happy as if i had won a million, i didn't care. I took a deep breath and laughed again as i turned my gaze back to Jake. What i hadn't expected, however, was him embracing me again, putting both of his hands on my cheeks and kissing me so hard that my eyes widened and i gasped.
cheers and mischievous whistles were interrupted by a loud bang. Everything got weirdly quiet in the hall so both me and Dylan turned around and saw how Thomas dusted the club once more into the wall so it split in half.
"Shall we play or?" he shouted in annoyance, swinging the broken club away.
I cleared my throat and took a step away from Jake and sprinted towards Brooke. I had played enough for today, it was then one that was certain. Luckily it was sports so if i was red in the face, which i most certainly was, it wasn't completely obvious that i was so embarrassed that i was dying.
Why the bloody hell had Jake kissed me? right in front of the whole class too? maybe it would have been an impulse in the moment but what the hell? it was really unnecessary!
I glanced over at Jake who seemed completely unfazed by the little incident. Someone who however didn't seem completely unfazed was Thomas who looked so furious he could explode at any second. Was it just because he wanted to play or was it because Jake had kissed me? i was no more stupid than to guess the reason. Even though he had said he didn't care about me or what i did, in this case with dylan, he seemed jealous. Or? not so little either considering his outburst. which was quite amusing.
"Looks like you have started a world war" Brooke whispered, nodding out towards the field.
"Me? I haven't done anything!"
"Maybe not but then you are the reason for it."
"Oh come on, it's ridiculous" i mumbled and felt my stomach tighten when Thomas and Jake lined up for the match again.
That there was a mental war going on between them, there was no talk of it. But who would emerge victorious from that battle, no one probably knew, i thought and held my breath as Eric blew the whistle and released the ball.
