It felt like the calm before the storm when me and Brooke walked out, forced out, onto the field for the final game. The air was so oppressively heavy in the hall that i did everything to force air down into my lungs.

There hadn't been any fights, after all Thomas and Jake were best friends but while a satisfied grin rested on Jake's lips and Thomas's clenched jaw was about to shatter.

"I'm kind of scared" Brooke whispered as we lined up on the edge which made me laugh. But i could understand her...

"You probably have nothing to be afraid of, if someone breaks down, it's the two of them, we stay on this edge," i whispered and lightly nudged her in the side.

However, i couldn't help but look away at the guys who were just standing there staring at each other. How can they keep going on like this? what did it matter that Jake had kissed me? it had been more an impulse of joy than his expressing any feelings of love for me. Come on! and Thomas, why did he care at all? he already had a new girl on the way so what did it matter if his best friend kissed a girl, a girl he obviously hated. He should be more amused than angry about the whole situation?

"Last game for today and we will end it in style. Whichever team wins, they win it all together. Come on now, let's go!" Eric shouted, putting the whistle in his mouth.

"Now we crush them" i whispered with a laugh to Brooke and sincerely hoped that it wouldn't be us who got crushed.

I took a few steps away from her to take my position. A position i had no idea what it was called, i didn't care, i just wanted this match to be over.

I was waiting for Eric to drop the ball so it would all end at some point. What surprised me is that Thomas moved from his seat and stood opposite me. Okay?

Thomas did not let go of my eyes. He didn't even react until Eric blew the whistle and released the ball. He just stood in front of me and stared.

"What the hell is your problem?" i hissed trying to go around him as my pulse increased but he just stood in the way.

"Stops you from scoring" he said curtly, as if it was the most obvious answer, or a necessary measure. Come on, i had made one goal in my whole life.

"Move!" i said shortly and pushed him but he remained standing.

I saw the ball coming towards us so i nudged him hard in the side with my elbow. It made him move, at least for a second.

As i received the ball i felt him wrap his arms around my waist and swing his club in front of my feet.

"Let me go!" i snarled, slamming my club into his.

"I said i'm not going to let you score again" he said and pulled me closer into his arms.

The ball had long since rolled away so i quickly felt myself in his arms.

"Get the fuck of me!" i said harshly, glaring at him but he just grinned.

"I guess you can run to your boyfriend and cry" he said mockingly.

"Boyfriend? What are you talking about?"

"Hope you are not disappointed now but Jake isn't very faithful" he whispered with an even bigger grin as my eyes widened.

"You are not fucking smart!" i said annoyed and tried to get out of his grip but he only held me tighter.

I felt my patience begin to run out. How could he claim that Jake was suddenly my boyfriend? so fucking silly! i thought and took a breath.

"Thomas, let me go now or-"

"Or what?" he interrupted me, raising his eyebrows in amusement.

Before i could answer i heard a loud whistle that made me flinch.

"We are playing a match here, what are you two up to?" Eric asked out loud, standing with his arms crossed over his chest and looking at us, who were still in each other's arms, reluctantly but still...

"I try to play but he won't let me go!" i said out loud and was met with laughter.

"I just stop her from scoring, she's so good at it," Thomas said amused.

"But you can't hold someone down, can you?" i hissed in annoyance and once again tried to break free from his grip.

"I'm not holding you down, i'm stopping you from scoring, that's a whole other thing."

"Are you serious?" i said with a bitter laugh and shook my head.

"I can't move. I call that restraint!" i continued angrily.

"It was you who turned into my arms, not my fault that you are now stuck" he said with such a grin on his face that it made my anger boil over.

"Let me go now!"

"Sure" he said softly, holding up his arms innocently.

Against my better judgment i took the plunge and shoved him hard in the stomach, stupid i know, so Thomas coughed, but i was so angry about the whole situation i couldn't stop it.

"That's enough! You can solve love problems in your spare time!" Eric began, taking a few determined steps towards us.

"But-" i started but he cut me off.

"You two sit on the bench for the last few minutes and after class you both have to clean the equipment room, together, otherwise i fail you!"

I had never seen Eric so angry but i could understand him, it really had gone too far.

I sighed and shook my head as i walked over to the bench with everyone's eyes on me and maybe on Thomas, i didn't care enough to give him a look.

Bloody hell! i thought as i sat down on the bench, i was only in this class to pass and just like always it was Thomas who was going to ruin everything. I won't fail because of him, even if we have to clean the store together.

It would still go quickly, i thought. The faster we cleaned, the faster we would get rid of each other. It was what we both wanted.

I glanced at Thomas as discreetly as i could and saw that idiot sitting grinning, leaning back slightly and looking very pleased with what had just happened. Ha! he could only dream! whatever was going on in his head i would show him the opposite. This was no fucking high school movie.
