Maybe my choice of breakfast wasn't so bad, i thought, not knowing whether to feel amused or just sorry as one by one crowded around the small table. In the end, we sat seven people around a table meant for four, now it was Kylie who was missing.
It didn't take long before the eyes landed on her and today she was a little more dressed up than yesterday. How could she hold on like that before a day on the slopes? both the hair and make-up would be ruined within five minutes so why spend that time fixing up, i thought and was immediately reminded of my non-existent make-up of neither hair, make-up or clothes.
I sighed and sank further into the armchair. Why did i even care? she looked borderline ridiculous. I reached for the glass of juice as the silence on my part during this breakfast made me drink all the coffee in record time. Maybe i pick up a new one just to have something to do?
Deciding on more coffee i stood up as Kylie came forward with a sly smile on her face. What did she have in her mind now? i thought, raising my eyebrows questioningly.
"Are you going?" she asked me but stood next to Thomas armchair.
"no, i was just thinking-"
"Too bad, then there's no room left for me, but i can sit with you, Thomas?" she asked but it was more of a statement because before he could answer she sat down on his lap. What the hell was she doing?
"Thank you, you're the best" she continued, leaning into his arms.
The urge for more coffee completely disappeared so i sat back down and leaned back in the armchair. I did my best not to turn my eyes to Kylie and Thomas. I winced as i felt Brooke compassionately hug my leg for silent support. She was the only one who knew what happened between me and Thomas. What she didn't know was that i had feelings for him, that i was in love with him. Seeing Kylie sitting on his lap felt like getting a knife stuck straight in the heart.
"What did you actually do yesterday?" Kylie asked, i meet her gaze and just shrugging.
"I was just here" i mumbled and looked out the window. How it hurt to see them sitting so close to each other.
"You are always so angry, i don't understand how you can take it," she continued, laughing. Right now i had a good reason to be mad, i thought, shooting her a light smile.
"I'm not mad but on the other hand i'm totally useless at skiing. I went up the hill but i barely got down because i skied most of it on my butt. The it's not so strange if i was heard instead of skiing more times" i said with a sharp tone but gave her an even bigger smile.
"But why didn't you say anything?" Brooke asked surprised.
"I guess the question is why are you on this trip even if you can't ski" Kylie said reaching over to reach the plate, making sure to really show her butt in Thomas face.
I felt a small victory when i saw Thomas look away from Kylie and look out the window. Haha, nice try dumbass, i thought mockingly.
"I would probably say the question is why none of you contacted me yesterday. Sure i can hardly go but you Brooke weren't in before midnight, you were hardly on the hill that long" i said and met her gaze which immediately revealed her bad conscience.
"Sorry, i was thinking-"
"You probably weren't thinking at all," i said, glaring at Dylan.
