As i brushed my hair, i couldn't tear my eyes away from the necklace glinting in the mirror, i hadn't taken it off since christmas eve. In the mirror, i looked away at the bedside table where Thomas's wish list was, the list that i read over and over until the paper has become wrinkled from all the tears.

With a sigh i put the brush on the table and walked over to the wardrobe. In just a little while i would be meeting Brooke to go to the midday sale. Something i used to look forward to, but right now everything just felt awkward.

I had received a new bag for christmas, one significantly smaller than the other bag i used, so that was good. Maybe that i wouldn't lose things all the time. I had also received money to buy a new phone, doubtful if i really feel ready for that. Sure, i missed surfing around or texting with Brooke but if i got a new phone, would i have to text Thomas and thank him for the necklace?

I dont know but i didn't understand why he had bought it for me. Maybe he had bought it before we broke up. But then surely he should have returned it? i felt the necklace with my fingers and swallowed the lump that had stuck in my throat, it wasn't just that he bought me a christmas present, the necklace must have been very expensive.

I took a deep breath and tried to shake off the guilty conscience for not thanking him yet as i searched for a sweater and a pair of jeans.

It didn't change anything, i couldn't forgive him, as much as it hurt to admit it. The second he fucked Kylie everything was ruined, there was no going back after that. Nothing would ever be the same and i could never trust him again.

I glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that it was only ten minutes before the bus left. I quickly gathered my things and picked up my new bag. It was actually really nice, or nice to be the mother who bought it but yes, i actually liked it.

With a bang i closed the bedroom door shut and hurried down the stairs. I could hear mom and Dylan talking in the kitchen but i didn't have time to go over there and talk to them, right now.

"Y/n? Are you on your way now?" mom called from the kitchen.

"Yes" i called back as i put on my jacket.

"Have fun sweetheart!" she shouted making me roll my eyes.

After putting on my jacket and shoes, i picked up my bag again and checked myself one last time in the mirror.

"Hey Y/n" Dylan began, leaning against one of the walls just inside the hall.

"Yes?" i mumbled as i checked my bag to make sure i had everything with me.

"Ask Brooke to buy some really sexy underwear, something that's easy to tear off " he said amused and winked flirtatiously with one eye as i quickly turned my gaze up at him, was he serious?

"You are fucking disturbed" i said shaking my head as i opened the front door.

"Promise to ask her to buy it!" he shouted with a laugh as i slammed the door shut. He could forget about that!

Once on the bus i had to stand and squeeze along the middle aisle. Not a free seat and hardly a free standing place.

When the bus finally slowed down at the central station i was sweating as if i had run a marathon. I wasn't really comfortable in tight spaces so i closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Yes, sweat and too strong perfume and something i would never put in my mouth. Ugh, it should be forbidden to bring food on the bus on a day like this. Or maybe it was already banned? it's just that people didn't care, i thought, pressing forward towards the doors.
