When we got down to the lifts i couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"It's hopeless! I will never learn to ride" i said, shaking my head.
"Of course you will learn, i promise" Ace said excitedly and lightly hugged my hand that was still in his.
"Are we really going to go up the big hill?" i asked anxiously. please say no.
"Not today, we are actually going to go on that children's hill you have been longing for" he continued with an amused smile on his face.
"Good" i mumbled and looked around.
The slopes were already filled with skiers, big and small. It looked so easy, i thought, feeling even worse than before. Not because i thought the lesson would be any major ego boost. If it was only teenagers and younger people, i might as well sit on my ass and never ride again. That was just so humiliating, i thought, turning back to Ace. It would be for his sake then, he was kind and he really wanted to help me. Then it was well worth embarrassing myself i supposed.
"I will try to get the gang together so we can start. Are you waiting here?" Ace asked but didn't let go of my hand.
"Yeah, it will probably be best that way" i said and laughed. just as well to stand as still as possible.
"Good, see you soon then" he said and hugged my hand before leaving.
Damn, how good he was, i thought and felt like the most embarrassing person in the world where i was now left all alone. That seemed to be the theme of this trip, the others were elsewhere while i was alone. I still couldn't bear to spend the whole day with Kylie.
"Hello there."
I quickly turned around as my heart stopped at the familiar voice.
"Thomas, what are you doing here?" i asked with the breath in my throat.
"Skiing, what does it look like?" he replied with a big smile on his face. What he seemed to be in a good mood?
"I see, i mean why are you here and not with the others?"
"I don't know. I thought it felt a bit mean to leave you alone."
I felt my heart skip a beat in my chest, did he really mean it? that he had thought of me and didn't want to leave me alone? oh Thomas...
"Thanks...but i'm going to join the ski lesson so if you want to go with the others, that's okay."
Say, no, say no, say no, i thought. I didn't want him to leave me, not now.
"It's fine, but i can teach you to ski if you want" he said with that charming smile, how could i resist?
"By the way, what were you going to say earlier? It sounded like it was something important" he continued and my heart stopped in my chest.
For a second i had completely forgotten that i was going to talk to him and that i had started to tell and was interrupted.
"Um that, it wasn't really important" i began, twisting nervously.
