"Do you want one?" Max asked as he offered me a cigarette.

We were sitting outside the hospital, waiting to start our shifts.

"You work for the NHS, you know how bad those things are for you." I told him.

"Is that a no?" he grinned.

"Yes it's a no." I chuckled.

A few weeks had passed since Christmas and things with Ethan were going well. I loved to sit outside the hospital and wait for Ethan.

I took a sip of my coffee and frowned as I saw a sports car driving towards the car park.

"Wow, someone's got plenty of money." I breathed.

"I want one." Max chuckled.

"They are maybe a little outside our price range." I pointed out.

"Speak for yourself." Max chuckled.

"Do we have a new consultant or something?" I said thoughtfully.

"I don't know, no one tells me anything." Max shrugged.

My jaw dropped as the car got closer and I saw that Caleb was driving.

"Hey." Caleb said as he got out of the car and walked over to us.

I quickly closed my mouth and stared at him.

"OMG is that your new car?!" Max exclaimed.

"Yeah do you like it?" Caleb grinned.

"Wow." Max breathed.

"You can take it for a spin later if you want?" Caleb offered.

"Sounds good." Max said sounding excited.

"How the hell did you afford it?!" Max exclaimed.

"I came into some money recently." Caleb grinned as he glanced at me.

My heart plummeted, Ethan must have given in and allowed to him to have the money. I couldn't help but feel angry that once again Caleb had bullied Ethan until he had given in.

"On second thoughts I will have one." I sighed as I took a cigarette from Max.

He grinned at me.

I quickly lit the cigarette and tried not to cough.

"I'd better head in." Max said as he stood up.

"Yeah me too, I was waiting for Ethan but he must be running late." I whispered as I glanced at my watch.

I started to follow Max into the hospital but stopped when Caleb called me:

"Can I talk to you?" he called.

"I need to start my shift." I said quietly.

"It'll only take a couple of minutes." he reassured me.

"What?" I sighed.

"Why are you angry with me?" he frowned.

"No reason." I said shortly.

"So you and Ethan huh?" he asked.

"What about us?" I asked.

"At least now I know why you turned me down." he grinned.

I glared at the smug expression on his face and felt my anger boil over.

"I turned you down because of your attitude!" I snapped.

"My what?" he laughed.

"That attitude." I told him.

He looked at me blankly.

"You strut around like you think you're gods gift to women and you're better than everyone else, when the truth is you're just an arrogant bully!" I ranted.

He stared at me in shock.

"I don't bully anyone." he said eventually.
"You bully Ethan all the time." I said angrily.

"Oh I see you've fallen for that little victim act." he laughed.

I glanced behind him as I saw Ethan walking towards us.

"Besides if I'm that bad why did you sleep with me?!" Caleb said smugly.

"Don't you dare!" I hissed as Ethan got closer to us.

Caleb fell silent and quickly walked away from us.

"Is everything okay?" Ethan asked me as he watched Caleb walk away.

"Yeah." I said quietly. I didn't have the heart to tell Ethan about Caleb's new car. I knew that he would be upset that he had once again frittered the money.

"I decided to give Caleb the money." Ethan told me as we walked into the hospital.

I didn't answer.

"Do you think I shouldn't have?" he asked me.

"The money is none of my business, but I do think that you should stand up to him and not let him bully you." I told him.
"I know, I just want a quiet life." he admitted.

"That doesn't mean that you should always do what he wants." I sighed.

"As long as he doesn't waste it." he said quietly.

I opened my mouth to answer but I couldn't find the words.

"I'll see you later." he said as he walked towards resus.
