"What's wrong?" I asked worridly.

"The police came to the house, they think they've caught the driver." he said shortly.

"Did you see who was driving?" he asked.

"Only for a split second." I said quietly.

I had a horrible feeling I knew where he was going with this.

"They want you to look at his picture to see if it's the right guy." he snapped as he handed me the picture.

I glanced down at it and quickly looked away. I could feel his eyes on me.

"Is that him?" he asked.

I nodded sadly.

"Why didn't you tell me?" he whispered.

"I didn't want to face it I guess." I sighed.

"We're meant to be a couple, we are meant to share things with each other." he said quietly.

"I know, I'm sorry." I whispered.

"You need to get in touch with the police to confirm that it's him and decide if you want to press charges." he said matter of factly.

"I don't know what to do." I admitted.

"Surely you want to press charges?" he questioned.

"But he'll go back to jail!" I exclaimed.

"Good it's what he deserves!" he cried.
I stood up and quickly wiped the tears from my eyes.

"I know he's your brother but he did something illegal." he stated.

"Besides how do you know he didn't hit you on purpose because you rejected him?" he pointed out.

"He didn't." I whispered.

"How do you know?" he asked.

"He couldn't have known that I would step out like that, he must have been in the wrong place at the wrong time." I told him.

"Maybe but that doesn't excuse the fact that he didn't stop." he said angrily.

"To be honest I'd rather drop the charges. It will be a lot of hassle and I don't want him to go back to jail." I said quietly.

"But he needs to pay for what he did!" he exclaimed.

I stared at him, slightly speechless.

"You said I should stand up to Caleb but when it's Stuart you back down!" he exclaimed.

"It's not a case of backing down, I admit he should have checked I was okay, but other than that he didn't do anything wrong." I snapped.

"Whatever." he shrugged.

I knew that he was angry with me, he obviously wanted him to get some comeuppance for what had happened. But I knew in my heart that it wasn't Stuart's fault.

"I know you just want to protect me, but I think this is the best decision." I sighed.

He nodded slowly.

"I don't want to fall out over it." I told him.

"Me neither." he sighed.

"I'll call the station tomorrow." I said quietly.

"You should go home and get some rest." I added.

"I'll wait for you to finish." he said.

"I don't finish until 8am!" I exclaimed.
"I've got tomorrow off anyway, I'd rather make sure you get home safely." he stated.

"Speaking of which Caleb said he can give us a ride." I told him.

He frowned at me. I quickly explained what Caleb had told me.

"Yeah whatever." he sighed.

"I'll chill in here until you finish." he added.

I sighed and left the staff room to resume my shift.
