"We should probably get to work." Ethan said as I stared after Caleb.

"Do you think Kirstie will be okay?" I asked.

"Yeah she's a tough cookie." he smiled.
"I hope he does the right thing." I sighed.

"I've been hoping the same for years, I wouldn't hold your breath." he pointed out.

I sighed as I put on my jacket and followed Ethan to the car.

Kirstie's POV

I jumped as I heard a knock at my bedroom door. It was still early, who could possibly want to talk to me at this hour. I climbed out of bed and padded across to the door. As I opened it, I gasped as Caleb stood in front of me.

"I hope I didn't wake you?" he asked.

"It's fine, come in." I said quietly.

He smiled slightly and sat on my bed.

"I'm sorry that I was angry." he stated.
"It's fine, I understand, I should have told you, but I was so angry and heartbroken that I couldn't even face you." I admitted.

"Yeah you should have." he sighed.

"Sorry." I said again.

"Having a couple of days away to think has made me realise that there is no point in being angry with you." he sighed.

"But I want to be involved in his life." he added.

"Of course, I'm sure he'd love that." I smiled.

"I'll give you money to help too." he smiled.

"Thanks, that would be great." I said.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. He really had matured, he was no longer the immature lad that I'd once known. He really did have a good heart underneath all the bravado. I smiled to myself as I realised why he didn't get along with Ethan. They were to similar, Caleb was more like him than he'd admit to himself.

"Can I visit him with you when you go back to Ireland?" he asked, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah of course." I smiled.

A thought suddenly occurred to me.

"Did Ethan tell you that Kai doesn't live with me?" I frowned.

"No he didn't." he said quietly.

I quickly explained to Caleb that Kai lived with his grandparents and the reasons behind my decision.

"Well maybe with my support we can get him back." he suggested.

"I don't know." she said hesitantly.

"You could move back to England, get a little place, Holby are looking for a new Doctor, I could recommend you?" he offered.

"I have been thinking about coming back, I do prefer England." I admitted.

"Have a think about it then, I'm sure we can sort something out." he smiled.

"Thanks Cal." I smiled.

I watched him closely as he picked his nails nervously and took a deep breath.

"But you know that we can't get back together." he stated.

"Yeah I know." I sighed.

"I just wanted to make it clear in case you got the wrong idea." he said quietly.

I nodded slowly.

"Just because we're not together doesn't mean that we can't be good parents." he smiled.

I smiled back as he hugged me tightly.

Emma's POV

"This is Mr Davidson, he has been vomiting recently, so we are keeping him in for observations. I've given him some anti - emetics and he's to he nil by mouth for the next couple of hours." Zoe told me.

"Okay that's fine." I smiled.

"So he just needs to be cleaned up." she said.

I nodded and pulled on some gloves.

"Sorry." she mouthed at me.

I smiled slightly and began to clean Mr Davidson.

I jumped as I heard Ethan's voice behind me.

"What are you doing?" he hissed as he took my arm and pulled me out of the cubicle.

"What are you doing?" I snapped.

"Did you even think to check his records?" he asked.

"I didn't need to, Zoe did a handover and asked me to clean him." I frowned.

I had no idea what had gotten into him. Why was he acting so strange?

"What's your problem?" I asked him.

"This patient is being treated for lymphoma." he told me.

"And?" I replied.

"He's been having regular chemotherapy." he stated.

"You're putting the baby at risk." he whispered.

I sighed and glanced around, nervous that we'd been overheard.

"You need to be more careful." he whispered.

"I hadn't even thought to check." I muttered.

"That's why I thought I'd say." he sighed.

"I guess I'll find someone else to look after him." I said as I quickly walked away.
