Chapter Six

I breathed a sigh of relief as I closed my front door behind me. It had been a long day, I was relieved that I was finally home. I glanced down as I saw my cat rubbing himself against my legs.

"Hi Koda, did you miss me?" I said as I picked him up.

I giggled as he tapped my face with his paw and started purring.

"You got used to having me around didn't you." I said as I hugged him tightly.

I put him down and made my way into the kitchen. He stood watching me, as he waited for me to refill his food dish. I smiled as he sat and ate happily.

I couldn't be bothered to cook so I grabbed a ready meal and placed it in the microwave. I glanced at my phone as it rang yet again. I rolled my eyes, when was Stuart going to stop calling me. I went upstairs and changed into my pyjamas. I glanced out the window, it was pitch black. I couldn't see anything except shadows that were being cast by the streetlights. I had a strange feeling that someone was watching the house. I jumped slightly as the heavens opened and it started to rain heavily. I sighed and closed the curtains. Get a grip I told myself.

I heard the microwave beep to say that the food was cooked and quickly made my way downstairs. I was starving. I tipped the food onto a plate and sat down on the sofa.

"What shall we watch tonight Koda?" I asked as I began flicking through channels.
I eventually found something and began tucking into my dinner. I glanced at Koda as he sat staring at me.

"What do you want?" I asked him.

I laughed as he meaowed in response. I rolled my eyes and moved my plate. As soon as my lap was clear he jumped on to it and curled up.

"You're such a softie." I said as I stroked him gently.

I jumped as I heard a knock at the door. I quickly switched off the television and frowned. Who would be visiting at this hour and in this weather. I felt my heart pound against my chest as I slowly pushed Koda off my lap. He jumped onto the floor and glared at me. I switched on the outside light and tried to peer out of the window to see who was standing on the doorstep. I took a deep breath and opened the door....
