"There's some leftovers in the fridge, so you won't have to cook tonight." I told Ethan later on.

"I'm sure I can manage cooking." he grinned.

"Really?" I chuckled raising my eyebrow skeptically.

"Well maybe not." he grinned.

"I'm gonna miss you tonight." he admitted.

"Well some of us have to work." I teased him.

"Besides you'll have Koda." I added.

I laughed as he rolled his eyes at me.

"It'll be your first night shift won't it?" he asked.

"Yeah but I doubt it'll be much different." I told him.

"Just don't fall asleep." he teased.

I smiled at him as he pulled me onto his lap and gently kissed my head.

"Stop it, I have to go to work." I sighed.

He groaned in protest as he let go of me.

"Have fun with Cal." he chuckled.

"Thanks." I grinned.

Ethan's POV

I sighed as she closed the front door behind herself. It was going to be a long night. I quickly logged onto the laptop and began to search for cars.

A couple of hours had passed, I smiled in satisfaction as I gathered the pile of car details that I'd found. I looked around the room, not really sure what to do with myself. I rummaged in the dvd cupboard and eventually found one.

I jumped as I heard a knock at the door. I sighed and paused the movie. I gasped as I opened the door and saw two police officers.

"Oh my god, what's happened?!" I exclaimed as my heart plummeted.

I couldn't cope with anymore.

"Nothing, Mr Hardy, can we come in?" she asked.

"Sure." I said as I gestured for them to follow me.

I watched them closely as they sat opposite me at the dining table.

"We have been reviewing the tapes and think we have found the driver." she told me.

"Good." I snapped.

"We need Miss Chambers to take a look at a picture and see if she recognises him from the incident." she said.

"She's not here, she has to work tonight." I told them.

"Is there a time that we can come back?" she asked.

"She'll probably be in bed tomorrow." I said quietly.

"How about you leave the photo with me, and I'll show it to her." I suggested.

She nodded and handed me an envelope.

"If you could tell her to get in touch with us once she's seen the picture." she stated.

"Yep I'll tell her." I smiled as they stood up and shook my hand.

I quickly saw them to the door and closed it behind them. I looked down at the envelope. I was potentially holding a picture of the scum bag who had almost killed Emma. I understood that it wasn't his fault that she'd stepped out, but that didn't excuse him from not even stopping to check that she was okay.

I looked at my hands as they began to shake. I needed to see his face, I needed to know who could do such a thing, to look into his eyes. I took a deep breath and opened the envelope. I pulled the photo out with shaking hands.

I gasped when I saw the photo. No! It couldn't be him, how could he do that. He was supposed to care about us. Why did it have to be someone we knew? I would kill him!

I grabbed my jacket and keys and quickly left the house, slamming the front door behind myself.
