I turned around and saw Ethan making his way down the stairs.
"He's gone." I sighed.
"Yeah I noticed." he said quietly.
"Do you think I should go after him?" he added.
"No, I think he needs some space." I replied.
"I didn't see that coming." he whispered.
"Me neither." I admitted.
"How could she keep that from him for so long?!" he exclaimed.
"I don't know." I sighed.
"He must be almost three and he's never even met his Dad." he pointed out.
"People do strange things when they are hurt, I'm sure she did what she thought was best." I sighed.
"How can it be the best thing?" he frowned.
"I don't know Ethan, but we can't be angry with her, she needs our support." I pointed out.
He scoffed and stared at me in shock.
"You've got to be kidding?!" he exclaimed.
"We have to be there for her and Cal, they were there for us when we were having problems." I told him.
"I guess so." he sighed.
"Where's Cal!" Kirstie said nervously as she entered the room.
"He's gone out for a while." I said quietly as I glanced at Ethan.
"What do I do?!" she said sounding panicked.
"Give him some space for a while, he might want to talk when he comes back." I reassured her.
She looked at the floor sadly.
"He's just shocked." I told her.
"Maybe." she whispered.
"Once he's got his head around it, he'll probably see things differently." I sighed.
She smiled slightly and left the room. I glanced at Ethan as he shook his head.
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
A couple of days had passed since Caleb had found out that he had a son. We still hadn't seen him and Ethan and I were starting to worry. We'd finally had a text from Caleb telling us that he was fine and needed some time alone. But that didn't stop us worrying about him.
"You seem quiet lately." Ethan said as we curled up together on the sofa.
"I'm just worried about Cal." I sighed.
"Yeah me too." he admitted.
"Hopefully he'll be okay." I said quietly.
"I'm sure he will, he's a grown man after all." he pointed out.
I smiled slightly and sighed.
"You really care about him don't you?" he asked.
"Yeah, he's my future brother in law." I smiled.
"I can't believe it's only a month until the wedding." he smiled.
"Me neither, it's come around quick." I replied.
I sighed and stared at the floor.
"What is it?" he asked.
"I'm fine." I smiled falsely.
"Emma." he prompted.
"I'm late." I whispered.
"As in..?" he asked.
"Yeah." I nodded.
He jumped up and took my hand.
"Where are we going?" I protested.
"To the chemist for a pregnancy test." he beamed.
