Ethan's POV

After a couple of hours of walking in the park, I finally felt ready to go home.

"Hello!" I called as I closed the front door behind myself. No answer. I sighed and slowly climbed the stairs, I almost didn't want to be around her at the moment. It was breaking my heart to see her so unhappy. I couldn't help but wonder if she was unhappy because of me. As I entered the room I saw that she was sitting exactly where I'd left her. It didn't even look like she'd read any of the book.

"Hey." I said quietly.

No answer.

"I'm sorry that I left you here alone." I whispered as I squatted in front of her, trying desperately to get her to look at me.

"It's okay, I understand that you needed a break from me." she said quietly.

"No it's not like that, I want to help you, I hate seeing you like this." I said quietly, my heart breaking.

"Sorry." she whispered.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." I told her.

"You know I love you more than anything and I always will, we can get past this, if you just tell me what's wrong." I pleaded.

"I'll be fine, I just need an early night." she whispered.

"Emma talk to me, if you keep shutting me out it'll make you feel worse." I told her.

I sighed in frustration as she ignored me and walked to the bathroom. As soon as she left I sat on the bed and ran my hands through my hair. I had no idea how to get through to her, maybe I should ask Caleb to speak to her. As much as I hated to admit it I knew that they'd become close recently. I would do anything to help her, even if it meant asking Caleb for help.

I looked up as Emma emerged from the bathroom.

"What happened to your nightdress?" I frowned as she came out wearing long sleeved pyjamas.

"I prefer these." she stated as she quickly climbed into bed.

"You hate pyjamas." I frowned.

"Not anymore." she said dismissively.

"What are you doing?" she asked as I took my clothes off.

"If you're getting an early night then so am I." I said as I climbed in beside her.

She watched me closely as I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her towards me. She quickly moved away from me.

"Emma!" I protested.

She ignored me and turned over so that she was facing away from me. I glanced at her back and sighed.
