Ethan's POV

I needed to find something to cheer her up, I hated seeing her like this. She'd clearly got herself into a bad place and it was my job to get her out of it. She'd helped me with my confidence and now it was time to return the favour.

"I have an idea for today." I told her the following morning.

"Cool." she said as she zipped up her fleece.

I frowned slightly, she'd never been one to cover up, she was proud of her figure. I decided not to dwell on it.

"I thought we could go shopping for the wedding rings." I said excitedly.

"Best not too, if money is a bit tight." she said dismissively.

"We can manage." I reassured her.

"C'mon it'll be fun." I added

"I don't really feel like it." she said as she picked up a book.

"Why?" I asked nervously.

"I'm just not in the mood." she said bluntly.

I watched her as she stared at the floor, not even able to look me in the eye. How could you help someone if they shut you out all the time? I longed to take away her pain but had no idea how too. I couldn't let her see how hurt I was that she'd refused to look at rings with me. Did she want to postpone the wedding? Had she fallen out of love with me? I needed some time alone, to think.

"I'm just popping out for a bit." I whispered.

She nodded, not looking up from her book.

Emma's POV

I sighed in relief as Ethan left. He'd always made me feel relaxed in his presence but recently I just felt ashamed and uncomfortable. There were to many unsaid things between us. I just wanted to be alone all the time, to shut out the world and everyone in it.

I hated myself even more now that I was attracted to Caleb. How could I be attracted to someone that had brought nothing but problems? Yet we had these moments, when he would look into my eyes and my legs would turn to jelly. I knew he had a soft side that he liked to keep hidden, I'd seen it. Stop it Emma! I told myself sternly. I sighed and returned to my book, trying to push away the thoughts.
