I slowly rearranged the flowers on the bedside table and glanced down at Emma. She still hadn't woken up since the accident. I knew it had only been a couple of hours since it had happened, but that didn't stop me worrying. I would never stop worrying about her. I sat on the chair next to the bed and watched her closely.

I jumped as the door opened and Caleb walked in. I watched him closely as he perched on the end of her bed.

"How is she?" he asked.

I glanced at her and saw that her eyelids were fluttering.

I glanced at Caleb and saw that he had seen it too.

I didn't answer him, I didn't even want to be in the same room as him, let alone have a conversation.

"You can go home and get some rest, I'll keep an eye on her." he stated.

"Go away and leave us alone!" I hissed, all the anger and stress I'd been feeling finally bubbled to the surface.

"What's your problem?" he asked.

"You're my problem." I snapped.

I clenched my fists as he scoffed at me.

"You just don't get it." I said through gritted teeth.

"Get what?" he asked condescendingly.

"She's in here because of you!" I blurted.

"What?" he asked, sounding shocked.

"We were arguing about you and she stepped into the road without looking!" I exclaimed.

He stared at me, his mouth open slightly.

"This is all your fault." I added.

"Don't be stupid." he replied condescendingly.

"I only told you what had happened." he added.

I turned away from him in disgust. He wasn't worth it, he always thought he was the one in the right. He didn't care about anyone but himself.

I turned my attention to Emma as her head moved. I hated that our last conversation had been arguing about Caleb. I had let him come between us and I needed to fix things. It didn't matter that they had a fling a while ago, what mattered is that she is with me now and we love each other. I vowed to never let him come between us again.

"I can take over caring for her now." I whispered.

"What about Mrs Beauchamp?" he asked.

"The procedure is finished, she just needs someone to keep and eye on her. I'm sure I can manage that." I said sarcastically.

"Whatever." he shrugged.

I sighed in frustration as he remained sitting on her bed. What did I have to do to get him to leave us alone.

I jumped slightly as Emma stirred and opened her eyes.

"Emma." I breathed as she slowly sat up.

"You've had an accident, you're in hospital." I told her.

She glanced at me and turned towards Caleb.

"Caleb." she whispered.

"Yeah I'm here." he said gently.

I watched in horror as she leaned forward and hugged him tightly.
