I awoke early and slowly climbed out of bed. I had barely slept, I couldn't stop thinking about her. I'd never felt so alone. I'd been trying to decide what to do, why did it have to be so hard? I knew Caleb was right, it was selfish of me to help her remember. Maybe I should allow her to recover in her own time. But I couldn't bear to be without her. I needed her back. I had to help her remember.

I made it to work in record time, I couldn't wait to be back with her. I always felt at ease in her presence. I carefully parked Caleb's car and quickly made my way into the hospital.

"How was she overnight?" I asked a sleepy looking Caleb, as we stood outside her room.

"Fine, no change, she was asleep most of the time." he told me.

I smiled at her as she glanced at the window and we locked eyes. I sighed as she quickly looked away.

"Has she said anything?" I asked nervously.

"Not about you." he answered.

"Did you have a think about what I said?" he asked.

"Yeah, I have to help her remember me." I whispered.

He frowned and shook his head.

"You can call me selfish if that's what you think, but at the end of the day I love her to much to lose her." I stated.
He opened his mouth to say something but I interrupted him.

"Besides it has nothing to do with you." I said as I walked away.

I quickly walked into her room and picked up her notes. I quickly scanned them so that I was aware of the medication she'd been given.

"Morning." I said as I perched on the bed.

She smiled slightly.

"How's Koda?" she asked quickly.

"Fine, I think he misses you though." I told her.

"Don't blame him." she grinned.

"I've been thinking about what you said, are we good friends?" she asked me.

"You could say that." I said smiling slightly.

She watched me closely.

"Did you get some rest last night?" I asked her.

"Yeah, kept having strange dreams though." she admitted.

"About what?" I asked.

"You mostly." she said quietly.

"Me!" I squeaked.

"We were just hanging out and having a nice time." she said.

I smiled at her.

"It felt so real." she whispered.

"Maybe it was." I whispered.

"Anyway I need to check your vitals." I told her as I removed my stethoscope from around my neck.

She glanced at me and pulled down her gown so that I could listen to her chest. I gasped as I saw her milky flesh. I longed to touch her and hold her tight. I would hold her tighter than ever before. I placed my stethoscope on her chest and saw her glance at me as my fingers accidentally brushed against her collarbone.

"Sorry." I said blushing.

I felt her eyes on me as I recorded the results.

"What's that?" she asked as she pointed at my neck.

I glanced down and saw that she was pointing to the chain around my neck. I watched her closely as she placed her hand on the chain and removed it from underneath my shirt, so that she could see what was on the end of it. I saw her frown as she looked at her engagement ring.

"That's a beautiful ring." she announced.

I nodded slowly.

"Why are you wearing it around your neck?" she asked.

"It means a lot to me." I told her.

"That's sweet." she smiled.

"I have to go, I have other patients to care for." I told her reluctantly.

"I'll see you later." I added as I walked away.
