"Kirstie!" I called as I walked after her.

"Kirstie wait!" I called again as she carried on walking.

"What?" she snapped as she threw herself down on the sofa.

"What's the story with you and Caleb?" I asked as I sat next to her.

"It's a long story." she sighed.

"I've got plenty of time." I reassured her.

"We dated for a couple of years." she admitted.

"Wow, I didn't realise." I whispered.

"Yeah well I don't speak about it because it didn't end well." she stated.
"It was a great partnership, we were going to be doctors together, everything was perfect." she added.

"You really loved him didn't you?" I said gently.

She nodded slowly as her eyes filled with tears.

"Until I saw his true colours." she sniffed sadly.

"I'm not like that anymore." Caleb said.

My head snapped up and I saw Caleb standing in the doorway.

"How long have you been standing there?" Kirstie whispered.

"Long enough." he said quietly.

"Besides you left me remember." he said impatiently.

"Oh really, have you forgotten why I left?!" she exclaimed.

"I thought we were fine." he shrugged.
I shifted uncomfortably as Kirstie glared at him, a look of disbelief on her face.

"I apologised and you stayed for a couple of weeks and then randomly left, I thought you were over it." he said shortly.

"How could I ever get over what you did?!" she cried.

"Well why stay for two weeks then?" he shrugged.

"Because I loved you and didn't want to believe what you did!" she sobbed.

"I can't do this." she added as she quickly left the room.

I sat in silence for a moment, unsure as to whether I should go after her. I smiled slightly as I saw Ethan walking after her.

"I'm going to put dinner on." I sighed as I walked into the kitchen.

As I was rummaging in the cupboards I heard Caleb enter the room.

"You should know that I'm not like that anymore." he said sadly.

"Like what, she didn't say what you'd done." I pointed out.

"Besides it's none of my business, I have enough going on without getting involved with your problems." I added.

"Yeah I guess so, I just don't want you thinking badly of me." he said quietly.

I raised my eyebrow at him skeptically.

"I will pay him back I promise." he stated.

"Good." I said quietly.

He smiled slightly as he watched me empty peas into a saucepan.

I jumped as he snuck up behind me and started to tickle me.

"Get off Caleb!" I squealed.

He ignored me and continued, I couldn't help but laugh at the mischievous look on his face.

"That's the first time I've seen you smile in ages." he grinned, his face inches from mine.

I smiled and looked away.

"Caleb!" I heard Ethan say sternly as he stood in the doorway. I blushed and quickly busied myself with dinner.

"Yes Nibbles." Caleb said innocently.

"I need a word." Ethan told him.

Ethan's POV

I was seething as I saw her smiling at him. She'd been distant with me for a few weeks and now she seemed happier when she was with him.

"You need to back off!" I rounded on Caleb as soon as we were out of Emma's earshot.

"Here we go again." he said rolling his eyes.

"Just remember that I didn't want you to stay here and if you cross a line, I'll kick you out without hesitation." I hissed.

"You already took my savings, I'm not letting you take something even more precious." I glared at him, before storming off.
