I bolted awake as I heard the front door close. As I quickly glanced at the clock and saw that it was one am. I quietly climbed out of bed and pulled on my dressing gown. I glanced at Ethan and saw that he was fast asleep. I opened my bedroom door and peered around it. I jumped and shrieked as a figure walked across the hallway.

"It's just me." I heard Caleb whisper.

I quickly flicked on the light.

"Where have you been?" I demanded.

"I popped out for a bit, I didn't realise I had to run it by you." he said sarcastically.

"You don't, but you could have said that you wouldn't be home until late." I pointed out.

"Whatever." he rolled his eyes and walked away from me.

"We're not done!" I hissed.

"Oh for god sake what is it now?" he sighed.

"You were horrible to Kirstie." I stated.

"What difference does it make to you?" he shrugged.

"She's my friend, I care about her." I told him.

"Good for you." he smirked.

"What has gotten into you lately?!" I exclaimed.

"Nothing in particular." he said dismissively.

"Well whatever, I think you should apologise to Kirstie." I insisted.

"Will that get you off my case?" he asked.

"I guess so." I scoffed.

I watched closely as he turned and walked away from me. He seemed to change his mind, as he turned back to face me.

"The truth is I can't be with Kirstie." he sighed.

"Why not?" I frowned.

He looked at the floor and remained silent.

"You were clearly jealous when she hit it off with Lofty the other night." I added.

"Rubbish." he snapped.

I raised my eyebrow skeptically.

"Besides it's complicated." he stated.

"Cal, it's one am, I'm too tired for riddles." I sighed.

"It wouldn't be fair for me to get back with Kirstie." he said quietly.

"But if she forgives you then it's no problem." I pointed out.

"I wasn't referring to what I did, that was years ago." he told me.

"I was referring to the fact that I'm in love with you." he admitted nervously.
